It just doesn't take a licensed engineer or contractor to build anything , It takes experience and knowledge

I do trust contractors to build and agree it is their area of expertise, but yes it does take a licensed engineer to design and get permit drawings for most construction.

I’ve broken my little toe on my right foot so many times, I think I can look at it and break it! Interestingly, at least to me, I first broke it on my first Jeep-a beautiful Charcoal Gray YJ. I was walking past her and me being my klutzy self, managed to get my toe stuck under the tire as I walked past. It snapped-big time. Seem familiar @ResponsibleAdult ?

Holy crikey mikey. Hit home for me, hammered 2 left small toes on a bench leg camping earlier this year. Still have black nail, and really started bothering me while hiking last week. Quite sure izza broke up in there somewhere .

I don't fully agree. I've seen some contractors pull some pretty sketchy shit on bigger jobs.

I had a mason stuff plastic shopping bags in his CMU wall instead of grouting it. We only caught it due to a randomly selected test of that wall.

Ironworkers torching holes to fit connections (a big no-no).

Rebar crews leaving bars out because they "don't fit".

Likewise, I've seen some "engineered" stuff that is impossible to build. (These usually end up as the subjects of smarmy letters and expensive claims).

True, an engineer probably couldn't actually go out and build any of the stuff they design (I for one don't have the requisite number of muscles to be an ironworker ). But, I would argue that a contractor wouldn't know where to begin sizing a dam for the water behind it. Contractors and engineers need each other. They usually hate each other, but they need each other (except in smaller scale work, where the contractor can rely on experience and prescribed building code measures).

So, a disturbing moment..I was driving the oldest and listening to Disturbed’s essential playlist..I’m totally into it and she isn’t. So, I reluctantly turned it down and asked what was up. She said and I quote, “I don’t understand why you listen to hard rock and heavy metal. It does nothing for me.” After I was able to breathe again....I shot her a look and turned it up
