Born and raised in the Seattle area. Would be hard pressed to move south as many retirees do. A short stint in Huntsville AL during the mid sixties when my dad got transferred for the Space program. He worked for Werner Von Braun.

My only other excursion from the Puget Sound area was Cal Berkeley where I studied for a couple years before changing majors, returning and graduating from the University of Washington.

This is my home and although several siblings of both my wife and my side of the family have moved to Arizona. I don’t know if I can pull up these roots.
Yes, the longer you live in a area the more the roots run deep and harder to move. My brother and sister both stayed in the upstate NY area where we grew up 55 years ago, I don't see either of them moving no matter how much I sell the weather in sunnier climes AND the tax savings (probably 40 to 50 thousand for my well to do brother:)).

I on the other hand went into the Marine Corps right out of college in 1979 and have moved 30 plus times - you start to loose count after awhile (about 20 or so with my wife which is an additional fun factor). My friends from HS and College think I'm in the WITSEC program trying to keep up with the address changes.

We've been in out current home for 3 years and already started discussing what's next (folks that know us also kiddingly say it's getting time for us to sell and move). I think part of it is the Marine Psyche of always being on the move and anywhere you stay is temporary - reason we always point out Marine Bases are called Camp (Camp Lejeune, Camp Pendleton, etc) vice forts or base, a camp is less permanent.

Well I pulled the washable filter from the FAE heating unit and I guess it has been quite awhile… Was pretty gunked up. Hope that didn’t burn something up. Time to tear into the main unit I suppose.

Good Morning, Silly Jeep Sod Types!

Well, it looks like the two stray cats that adopted us a few while ago… decided this was a good deal and grew the family.

Ergo, there’s now three -the grey tabby (Charley), the black-and-white one (Oreo) and now a wee little one, who is also black-and-white. :like: :surprised::facepalm:

Current name for the little one is ‘Tuxedo’ or Tux for short… but not 100% sure yet.

Cheers,
-CM-

New guy joined the bead lock thread and is dusting up the rest of us. At least now I know I am an idiot for not running bead locks and using street-rated load range C tires instead of proper bead locks and load range E for rocky trails. Last time I had E's, I vowed never again, as they were too darn rough a ride and the sidewalls didn't want to flex. Should've kept those high-range tires from the 18-wheelers, I guess.

Threw my corroded hawse fairlead in my blast cabinet and start hitting it with some fine grit. There definitely is some kind of clear coat that is peeling off. You can see a couple of flakes.

Actually I am surprised at how tough it is. The corrosion got under the coating but where there is no corrosion the coating is hanging on better than I expected.

I might have to go to a coarser grit!
