Around 2500 miles (currently at 3500) My Clutch started to become harder to press. The problem is intermittent. I can't nail down enough info where I feel confident explaining it to a dealer. If I leave the vehicle in gear over night the clutch is hard on start up and gets easier as I go through the gears. If I leave it in N over night clutch remains like it did new. However if I spend 15+ mins in 1/2 or 3 while going down trails or in 30mph or less zones it gets harder again. If I'm in 4th or 5th commuting to work where I stay in the same gear for 20 mins or more the clutch operates like new. RPMS don't seem to make a difference. This is my first manual that I've owned and the first I've driven in 10 years but growing up as a ranch kid I drove/pulled with a lot of um and have never experienced this. I also have the squeaky clutch pedal and what sounds like an air leak when I press the clutch in at a stop. Not leaking any fluids and gear changes are fine. Breaks also operate fine, looks like they share the same fluid? Please advise.

Makes no sense that if the trans is in N it's fine. When you leave it in gear it's hard in the morning on clutch disengagement. The internal of the trans has no affect on a clutch as you have described.

Perhaps its just a coincidence. After some research on the issue from other vehicles common issues are air or debris in the system or something not properly aligned. I'll take it in this Saturday. Definitely want the issue taken care of before I do lift/tires so they don't try to blame that.

Any resolution on this? My JLUR has 8k miles and the clutch has developed an annoying squeak/creak every time I depress it. The clutch pedal makes the creak only during the first 1/4 of travel and is constant with every shift. Also feels a bit stiffer than it did when new. Have an appointment for next Monday to get it looked at.

Dealership told me everything was in spec. Has not gotten any worse. They did adjust a spring to get rid of the squeaky pedal.. and sprayed it with wd40 and made a mess. Was not very satisfied with the answer but everything's working like normal still. Guess if it explodes one day I can call them on it lol. Let me know what the dealership tells you please.

Definitely will let you know. I just want it fixed. If as simple as an adjustment, fine with me, but if that's a band aid and it comes back in 3 weeks, I'm gonna be annoyed.

Mine started the same issue yesterday. Clutch feels the same as it did on the JKs to press down now halfway through running a trail yesterday. At first I thought my legs were getting tired from all the clutching in and out I did yesterday. Not making sounds though, just hard to press it in. Any thoughts? I only have 2.2k miles on the jeep I hope its covered...also hope they give me a loaner.

Mine goes in for service tomorrow. Think it has something to do with the spring. Normally first few shifts are fine but as the spring flexes it gets noisier and stiffer. By the time I’m about 20 mins into driving it’s creaking with every clutch depression. Hopefully they’ll swap it out. Will keep u posted.

Jeep wave program reimburses $35 a day for rental so call and open a case. U pay for rental and submit paperwork for reimbursement.

So I dropped my JLUR off today for service on the stiff, creaking clutch. Service tech "removed clutch pedal spring, take apart and lube inner slide, reinstall" as documented on my work order. Clutch is back to feeling like butter and silent again. I asked if they had seen other manual JLs with this issue and the techs said they hadn't seen many manual JLs. I guess time will tell whether this was a fix or a short-term band aid.

Thanks for the update. Im at 650 miles with no issues, but havent taken it for drives over a couple hours or on the trails yet.

My Jeep has the same problem. The loaners and new ones on the lot are AWESOME. Mine is terrible. It is VERY difficult to feel where the clutch engages / disengages. It is even an issue on highway. I have been working with the dealers here in South Carolina. Entire CLutch, Brake, and Gas Pedal assembly was changed out (NO Change). A different dealer changed the Master/Slave was changed out and it was good for a few days, but now the problem is back. I think there is a hydraulic issue somewhere in the system.
