I am planning a 2.5" lift for my 2 door JL, which I also use for highway driving. Does anyone run 33" tires with a 2.5" lit on the 2 door, or is 35" the most sensible option? Thanks.

Note: Lift will be a proper lift with new shocks, etc.

Spacer on a sport? You might get away with it.

Nah, I should've clarified - doing a real lift with a new suspension.
Nothing wrong with the spacer lift, but most manufacturers spring lifts are based on a heavy Rubicon. You are likely to get 3 1/2+ inches out of it.

Am I mistaken that the overall geometry/balance will be better, and certainly more stable on the highway, with the whole suspension replaced? My friend has a 2.5" spacer lift and it's pretty rough if you hit a pot hole at speed.

The spacers aren't the reason it's rough. It probably doesn't have the proper bump stops, shocks, etc making it ride rough. With that much lift 35s would be ideal.

Right so I do a 2.5" lift with proper shocks ,etc. and 35" tires will I get a decent highway ride? I'm not dumb - nobody should buy a Wrangler for the highway riding - but it's my only car so I need it to be relatively safe and comfortable on the interstate.

2.5" suspension lift on a '20 Sport S.

Running 285/70 r17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss a/t's. I think the look just right for the lift. 35's would fill in too much imho.
These have been better then the stock goodyears on the highway by miles. Running them - per a Mickey Thompson's tech's advice - at 30psi front and 28psi rear.

If you go 285/70s look for new take off rubicon tires, they come up a lot.
I wish somebody close to me needed some takeoffs, I have my Rubicon takeoffs propped up outside of my garage taking up space. As far as size, I put 35 M/T baja boss on my Rubicon...really good tires and look good too. A little squishy but obviously...they definitely ride nice at 30 psi which is where I have mine set.

Be careful with going off pictures, beyond the spacer vs spring vs any other spring. Tire actual size varies by manufacturer even in the same size.

Highly recommend looking at some in person.

Thanks for the pics, that looks great. So maybe the 35s are too big? If I went with a 285 I'd do this: https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/bf-go...sNPIm7l4_PYa6JNcbT50YzTCk-IhmuEY1dttj_5_i0yQj
Can't go wrong with KO2's.

Just a side note: mine was a take-off lift from a Rubicon Recon, which at the time had the stiffest springs. They are 61/62 rear & 91/92 front. Was a perfect 2.5" lift and added the longer Mopar lca's (a must) at the same time.
Ran the rubi shocks until a few months back and then switched to Bilstein 5100's - massive but subtle difference in ride and handling.
