I don't do Malls. Occasionally, I stop at grocery stores so I guess this would be a grocery getter.

Real Jeepers skip the mall and head straight to Jo Ann Fabrics.

Our Joann's was completely out of marine vinyl. I had to head to a local fabric store instead. Now if only I actually knew how to upholster...

Just installed the off-road animal tow hooks and nudge bar. Trimming was ez pz. Now to decide if I go soft shackles or regular. We are leaving the JT here and taking this beast to Corova, OBX. Should be good to go now!

Depending which beach you drive on, I think one of them in Texas is considered part of a road or highway, so in that one you'd be legal but in places like Bolivar Peninsula, you definitely need a OHV sticker. I wouldn't risk it, just cuz the Game Warden hasn't caught you yet isn't worth the fine in my opinion.

I don't know about those other roads in the photos. If they are designated city or state or county roads or highways, no matter how rural or off-road looking they are, they're not OHV. However if that's private land that hasn't received a Parks and wildlife grant, then that's a different story.

I find getting one just in case is worth the $16. Wouldn't want to find myself in the wrong place and the game wardens giving me a $500 fine, rather just spend the $16 and be done with it.
That beach was South Padre Island and the beach is owned by the county and they do not require a sticker. There are VERY FEW places in Texas that require that sticker, as there are few public lands that are legal to wheel on. None of the other pictures are on public land.

That sticker is only good for the places in the link above that allow full size OHV. It's pretty few and far between.

Yeah that's the truth. There's a reason the two closest parks to me are both 2 hours away.:crying:

So maybe, just maybe, not the best way to identify a mall crawler here in the great State of Texas?

I beg to differ!

This screenshot from Big Bend's website gives you the best answer!

Right there in big bold red letters. Without an OHV sticker in Texas, you're not off-roading.

I've driven farm roads in Lamar County which are reminiscent of Colorado Forest trails. Many of which look just like the photos you posted above. Do I need an OHV sticker for those? Nope, because I'm not off-roading.

You're not going to like this one bit, but check out Google maps from San Padre Island...

Hate to break it to you, you're not off-roading!

At least not in the legal sense. Those are designated roads on the beach, that's why you don't need an OHV pass! šŸ‘»

Tred, you haven't actually been to any of those places, so I'll go easy on you. But those weren't roads, those were trails. Except for probably one of those pictures that was from somewhere out in West Texas. Anyway. Since you keep bringing up the SPI pictures. Maybe look at Google Earth a little bit closer next time. Those pictures are from way north of beach access point 6. The area that you pointed out was an actual paved road.

And there are places like Hidden Falls, Wolf Caves, Katemcy, etc, etc, that have trails, not roads, and do not require the sticker. But again, I'm obviously just a mall crawler with no sticker.

See you on the trails... Oh who am I kidding, I definitely will not see you on any trails.

Almost forgot..

That "road" in West Texas looks similar to this one that you snipped the warning above from. Where have I seen that before.... It looks familiar, where could it be.... Oh, that's right. It was the first trail Jeep added to the Badge of Honor here in Texas.

Silly little thing is a road pretending to be a trail.

Also, no sticker needed there.

Two-door grocery getters on 38's are the best!! šŸ˜
Gawd- you just had to post that, didn’t you ? Not a 2dr, but I spent a lot of dough getting mine geared, proper lift, wheels and tires, flares, relocation, and set up for my off road usage…. But dayamn, it would be much more impressive at ā€œSave Martā€ or ā€œCVSā€ with 38’s. Do I start over , huh , should I ? Get more ducks too
You did it on purpose, didn’t ya ?!

I only mall crawl when the wife says we gotta go, she hates the malls too and the jeep being the only transport vehicle, but I could crawl low n slow on my lawn tractor. Or as Kid Rock says, buy a yacht with a flag saying:
