I'd like to see if we can come to our senses on our own. That process will be the sort of healing and closure we need to get back on track.

What we need are level headed moderates who have the strength of character and moral fiber to call out extremists for what they are, and denounce them on the spot. Any politician who does that is a member of a dying breed.

Heh, I've been accused of being a liberal because I simply understand the need for welfare. Being a Moderate is why I am no longer on Facebook and can't stand seeing the virulence of political extremism there.

I don't think we're that far gone. The war declaration on Japan was unanimous in both houses with only one member of the House abstaining.

Attacking a US military base on native soil, unprovoked, should be a no-brainer.

yes, but my point being nowadays anything said by Party A is universally opposed by Party B, regardless of what it is.

A much more peaceful example would be Mt. McKinley/Denali naming... People that had never been to Alaska and had only head of said mountain in 3rd grade Geography were up in arms...

Try being a moderate with left leaning tendencies. My only saving grace is that I live in NYC, arguably the liberal capital of the east coast. Ironically, I get called out for being too conservative every now and then.

I stay on Facebook because I refuse to let politics kick me off. I don't start anything, but when the inevitable hard-right uncle comments on my wall, I stand my ground and back it up with facts.

Politics aside, yers truly built a website last night. Still a work in progress but I'm learning where the program hides all the files that need tweaking to make it what I need it to be. I'm the web guy for the club's website and it has some issues and it uses Wordpress as the engine and I HATE it! So I'm farting around trying to create a new one from scratch. Fun stuff and I can get help from my son. hehe
