My girlfriend has a cordless powered tire pump, and I thought that was a great idea, but the thing is pretty wimpy and only really good for small car tires. Then the @WOLFBOX CAR LIFE MegaFlow Air Pump came along and I thought I'd give it a try. It claimed to be fast and able to handle a pretty good sized tire. I've had air compressors that connect directly to the batter and they are great, but.....I don't like opening the hood every time I air up and I don't like messing with a cord and long air hose. The other thing I HATE is that they get so hot, you have to wait awhile to pack them away because they'll melt something or worse....ignite something.

So I have two tests for this machine. Well, really three. The first is to see how it does with a big 35" tire that is dead flat....0 psi. I want to see if it can get it to 30 or 32psi on a single charge, which is where I tend to run my tires, as I am still on the narrow stock rims and don't like the factory recommended 37psi.

The second, is to test if it can get 4 tires from about 17lbs to 30 on a single charge. Mostly, for the type of wheeling I do, 20psi is aired down enough, especially if there are stretches of pavement in the route. But I'll go 17 in a place like Moab.

Finally, I want to see how hot this unit gets. When I'm done airing up, I want to stow it and go and not wait around for it to cool off.

So, here is the first test I've done.....from 0 to 32. Spoiler.....It nailed it with a bar of battery charge to spare.

It passed the heat test, too! Only the hose got hot and it wasn't enough to burn me. Best of all, it cooled off very quickly.

So far, I'm really liking this thing! I like the big digital display, too, and it comes in a really nice case!

When I get time, which may be awhile, I'll try the 17-30psi test.

Seems pretty worthless for a trail vehicle. 15 minutes to air up, then you have to let it cool down, and the battery is almost fully depleted. Don't really want to spend 2. hours airing up after being on the trail. Might make a good back up incase you get a flat and need to air up one tire. It might do pretty good on normal size tires, but for Jeeps with big tires it's worthless.

I ran a $20 Walmart compressor that could fit in my glove box with a dedicated cigarette lighter plug and could pump at 1.2 CFM, which is only slightly less than this one can do with I think 1.78 or something like that ran it for almost 10 years over three different vehicles, zero issues. Did I mention it was $20 at Walmart!? The husky one that I run now is about triple the size of that wolfbox one, but it also has a 2.3 CFM, and costs half as much as the wolf box "portable" brick. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Don’t take this the wrong way? But did wolfbox send you the pump to review. They approached me several weeks ago about reviewing their floor mats, I passed as I am not a fan of that type of marketing campaign.

If they did give it to you for free with the intent that you post a review, it would be worth mentioning that in your above post.

Yep, they sent it to me. I told them they get an honest review, like it or hate it.

I've been looking for a pump that would not get hot. My Harbor Freight compressor melted part of my tent on my trip to Moab last October. It fell onto it when I hit a bump.

IF the pump didn't work, I'd say so. If it doesn't go from 17 to 30 for 4 tires, you'll see it. And it will go to my girlfriend's car.

But the fact is, it passed the first test. It pumped up a 35" tire from 0 to 32 and had some battery left. I'd have run it up to 35, but 32 cold is as high as I go.

And the hose was not hot enough to melt anything, even a marshmallow.

They offered me a rear view mirror dash cam that was pretty cool, but I didn't want it or have the time to mess with it, or I'd have reviewed that, too.

It'll probably be a couple weeks before I try the 4 tire air-up. I'm just too busy with work.

I've burned up about 4 of those. Glad you had good luck. I have not. And they get hot as hell. This one got warm, but not hot. The metal on the hose got hot but cooled immediately. And it wasn't hot enough to melt plastic.

Oh, and the cheap ones I've had made the cigarette lighter socket get hot enough to worry me.

This thing did better than I expected. And it's really not as heavy as I thought it would be.

I didn't have to let it cool down. Not anywhere nearly as much as the larger higher performance compressors I have. They are definitely faster, but I have to pop the hood, clip them on the battery, and deal with the cords.

But one thing the others can do, is hook up to a 4-tire hose and fill all 4 at once. But that setup is $$ and takes up valuable space. (That would not matter as much in my Gladiator, but space in the JL is at a premium.)

In this test, I went from zero to 32. On the trail, my typical use would take it from 17 to 30. I'm not sure it has the battery to do that 4x, but we''ll find out within the next couple weeks, when I have time to do it. If it fails that test, my girlfriend gets it for her car and I'll stick with my Harbor Freight compressor. But I don't think they are marketing it for anything other than filling a large tire, which it did just fine, while staying cool enough to hold and touch with bare hands. You will flat out burn the shit out of yourself on the HF pump after running it even for a short time.

It looks really cool for like my wife’s Honda crv. But then again I use a el cheapo Amazon one that plugs into the cigarette lighter. For that market $120 seems expensive. For the trail market it doesn’t seem useful for doing all 4 tires which is the typical use case. Not one tire.

I considered getting one of these because I’m super OCD about my tire pressures being the same.

Around here the off-road parks have fill stations but usually no gauges. So I was thinking I could just use their stuff to get me close, then use something like this to get the last few PSI.

Then Ryobi came out with a new one that uses their batteries (which I have several of) for anround $30 and lets you set the target pressure so I got one.

Like the Wolfbox one tested, you hook it up and press the button. I like that a lot compared the old style one you had to stay knelt down with holding the trigger. Unfortunately the tire pressures are inconsistent with the new one by 1-2 psi.

@DanW , when you do the subsequent test, can you also note resulting pressures for each tire?
