Motortrend recently compared four SUVs which are comfortable enough for a daily commute and road-trip but also able to turn well off the beaten path for some off-roading to escape fellow man.
They brought the Jeep Wrangler, Land Rover Discovery, Lexus LX and Mercedes G-Class to Bishop, California, where they tackled the trail to Coyote Flat, 10,000 feet above sea level. The 20 mile trail included deep sand, rocks, cliff faces and water crossings.
