How do you get FedEx to drop that off at the doorstep? If I could, I would order one to just see that.

When I was a kid (early 1970s), these “Jeeps in a Crate” were listed for sale in the back of magazines. I always dreamed of getting one, but it really wasn’t something I could do, and I wasn’t sure how legitimate the offer was.

I can’t remember the price, but I think it was probably around $1,000. Does anyone else remember this, and do you remember the price?

The ones I remember looked like they were showing a price, but actually had “as low as” in front of it. Those were for some kind of “service “ that would tell you when government auctions were being held. Basically if you paid them, they would tell you when auctions were. You might get one at that price, but 99% of the time they were a lot higher. They were just selling their “service “.
Early on, surplus Jeeps could be bought from ads like that. Later, it was more or less a scam.

I drove am M151A1 as a Military Policeman in the early 80s in Italy/Germany... it damn sure wasn't a JL. ... but there was nothing it couldn't do... (at night in bunker seclusion land)... I think we were supposed to be patrolling.

I can't say that I recall the G503 ads, but I do remember the full two page ads from AMC JEEP in Outdoor life Magazine. A new CJ-5 Jeep was $5000. This was around 1974-1975.
