Hay guys I was looking on the Jeep website and it appears they are offering the 3.6 without eTorque again, Is this new or have I been under a rock?

What I did notice is that it is not available for Rubicon models or the Sahara with the Selec-Trac.

I wonder if it's actually any good. I haven't looked into it much, it seems like it's adding complexity and I hate that, but if its actually great I might not mind as much.

So it is either a crappy tiny battery powering the ESS, or a bigger battery mild hybrid?

I forgot ESS was even a thing, I tuned that off with the Tazer in the first week and never looked back. That shit was too weird with a manual

Yeah, V6 ESS Auto was added back as an option on some configurations in the April order guide.

I wasnt very keen on ordering my 21 Rubicon with it, but I got to say...so far I love it. Seems well intregrated and seems to work. Lets see how it is over several thousand more miles...

Since I've got your ear.

Does it do the stupid stop start thing? if so...

How seamless is that?

Does the AC suffer when the motor is off?

Is it faster because of it?

Can you turn it off?

I agree. I assumed I would hate it - but really it is almost completely unnoticeable. The “start” on the 2kW generator is silent, and occurs the instant your foot comes off the brake. Having constant torque and smooth acceleration is just an added benefit. Granted, it is another system to maintain - but the fuel economy savings are intended to offset that. Guess we will see.

I would say it is totally seamless. I haven’t noticed any disruption in AC or heat (yeah, we have had cool nights already up here); and yes - it is faster off the line and between shifts on the 8 speed, because the generator kicks in between shifts to offset lag.
