Just got back in town from vacation and decided to take a look at my wife’s Jeep due to the frame issues... it’s had crap steering since day one... someone tell me that I’m not seeing this, and that this isn’t real life on a brand new vehicle with 1200 miles...

Yep, looks like mine.

How are the welds on the brackets to either side?

Welds don’t look near as bad as everyone else that’s posted... no dealer can get me in for two weeks around here and at least two say “drive it until it crashes”... great service

What are we looking at that looks bad? I'm not seeing a problem...

Those look fine to me. I've got the recall so I'll be going in to get them inspected as well.

From what I can see it's all fine, but I'll feel better after they verify and I get TrailJeeps to second verify just before welding on some armor bits in the Spring.

I wouldn't worry about those sway bars. How does your steering mount points look? Welds hit the right spots?

Here is my sway bar.

I think he's concerned about how the swaybar looks. But it looks good to me. It does look unnatural not to bolt flush with the frame.

Are you complaining about what appears to be tiny rust spots?

dude the recall issue with the frame is for that track bar mount and not the sway bars as you posted

the track bar frame mount is a few inches back on the driver side from the sway bar, its the rod that goes from the frame to the passenger side of the axle

as for your steering check your tire pressure might be on the high side seems like dealer and/or factory likes to run them high else take it to the dealer as there are a few things they may be able to do to fix it

You all are right, in the excitement of thinking I finally had an answer to her steering issue I was looking at the wrong thing... the welds on the frame in general are crap but not like some of the others posted... the track bar mount looks fine... weld is a bit high but I don’t think it’s as bad as the ones being recalled.

So stupidity/false alarm on my end. Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, you're right---that's the stupidest looking front sway bar FOUNDATION I've ever seen-

I don't blame you for calling it out !

Anyone have a good photo of a “recalled” trackbar weld before its completely broken? So I can compare the weld location?
