OP, have you checked to make sure all of the fuses and relays are fully seated in the fuse box? Seems to be a common source of many electrical issues on the JLs.
Yes, did that when the trans was stuck in 8th gear, over half of them not seated all the way. So that's not the problem this time.

all you need to do is remove just the POS main terminal from the battery and that will cause a reboot to the Jeep. Worked all three times I've had an issues with this jeep, twice for not starting and once for it stuck in 8th gear and would not shift.
:swear: Sounds like you should maybe install a toggle switch on the positive lead before the battery so you don't have to disconnect...instead, just flip the switch for a couple of minutes when needed since it's becoming a common occurrence. :headbang:

Loose fuses, seems to be a Jeep thing? Almost all the fuses in our two Cherokee Trailhawks were loose, so not surprised at the JL! Think I'd have thought of that, going out to check now, only owned it since Feb. LOL

Also interesting the Cherokee's with stop/start only have on big battery and the stop/start works much smoother and faster? I hate that my JLU has two batteries, more to worry and think about??

Go Jeep!!!

Maybe they need to wire it into the aux switch.

We can have the first generation Jeep to come with a reboot button.

Two batteries mean that you have twice the chance of something happening with at least one of them. If they are fully redundant though (which is not the case with the JL), then it means that the consequences of that problem are likely to be not as inconvenient for you. It's like having two engines in an aircraft instead of one. Let's say that you have a 1 in 1000 chance of something going wrong with an engine that would cause it to quit working. If you have two engines, that means that you would have a 2 in 1000 chance of something going wrong with at least one of those engines. If you have one engine that quits and you only have one engine, you are going down and you choices on where are going to be limited by how far you can glide without power. If you lose an engine on a twin engine aircraft AND you do everything right in handling the situation, you might very well make it to the nearest airport and survive the situation and in addition, experience no damage to the aircraft. Both of those are considered *good* things and as pilots, we strive to achieve them. :)

Now, on a side note, what some people fail to realize when they are putting wider tires on a vehicle is that by doing so, they are increasing their chance of having a flat from road debris (e.g. screws and nails).

Went 4 wheeling yesterday and had my JL fail again, after crawling up the trail for about 40 minutes, we had to pull over to let a group of jeeps coming back down the trail go by. Got in to start the jeep and nothing, kept retrying to start the jeep and got a message STARTER over load need to wait 30 seconds before retrying. Waited serval times but it was not going to start. In this state I could not move the shifter from Park, had to shift the Transfer Case into neutral to move the Jeep back enough to let another Jeep in our group get out. So, like all computers I had to give it a restart by disconnecting the battery to reset everything. I will note it was very hot under the hood which I’m sure heat soaked everything – still no excuse for not working correctly. After I disconnected the battery for 2-3 minutes and re-connected the Jeep started up like nothing was ever wrong. Keep on going for another hour to have lunch and shut thing off for about a half hour. Jeep restarted just fine, drove back out to a spot to air backup. Shut off the Jeep and guess what, Jeep would not start again only this time a message something like Service 4-wheel system message pop up for about 3 seconds. Once again, I disconnected the battery to reset all the computers in the Jeep and we where on our way. This Jeep seem to have a lot of software problems and is proving to be very unreliable. So, if you ever get stuck where the jeep will not start, try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes and hopefully you can get back on the road. I for one have ZERO faith in this Jeep at this time and know when I take it into the dealership they are going to say CAN NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, maybe someday they will get someone that can think and work on these jeeps.
Hi IPSCOJL,
We understand the importance of having a reliable ride and regret to hear of this experience. We understand at this time that you are just sharing your concerns with other forum members. However, if you do choose to visit your dealer to have this looked into further. Please feel free to send our team a private message.

Yes, and half of them were not seated correctly, one of my problems turned out to be the main connector located below the battery. The factory seem to have a problem with pushed out pins which makes the problems hit or miss with heat and movement. Also had to have the Vacuum pump replaced as it was causing problems showing no vacuum or low vacuum as i was told the new cam does not create enough vacuum for everything at low RPMs. And then were was the bad Transfer case switch which caused a few other issues. Jeep has been back to the dealer for service 6 times now, just waiting on the next problem to show it head.

I use to remove a fuse to keep my car from starting. Home made anti-theft we had back in the day. Could one be faulty and disconnecting the battery reingages this fuse? I know nothing about electrical systems but another mention fuse issues.
Faulty, probably not, but perhaps LOOSE!! CHECK YOUR FUSES EVERYONE!! I have posted this 4 times today. No excuses anymore!! :swear:

One of the first things I did (thanks to this forum) and was shocked that they were all nice and snug. Seems like I got luck on that one

There are all kinds of things to push in, your fingers will hurt if you get every one seated! Press firmly on all the relays also.

I had loose 10mm nuts on dist outputs

The fuse and output lug identifications are on the lid of fuse holder.
