Yellowing grille on Bright White? Fix?

im placing a new order for a bright white jlur. I’ve read the grill has been turning yellow. I know there a huge thread on it, I read it. I’m basically asking if people have heard or assume if the 2019’s will have this issue resolved? Or any info that can help me before I pull the trigger. I also heard the sting gray (my second choice) is having same issue!

I'd keep a close eye on the issue. I'm currently working with Jeep Care with the grill issue on my brand new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport JL. It's white and the grill is beginning to yellow. As of now Jeep has declined my request to take care of the issue. Still working with Jeep Care and hoping they will ultimately take care of the issue.

I’m not trying to belittle the problem but at least it’s only cosmetic and the grill can be easily replaced or painted unlike many of the other problems owners are experiencing with their new JLs like bad welds, bad steering, electrical and host of other reported issues.

White vehicles of various manufacturers have has this issue for decades on white vehicles. I’m going to go out on a limb and say no, the 2019 models will not have a magical fix for it. They’ll have the same issues as 2018 models and the best you’ll be able to hope for as regards help from FCA is a repaint.

My 2016 of 2 years ago does not have this problem . They likely changed grill plastic contractors .

Neither did my 2014 Bright White JK.

I believe that the JL bright white turning yellow issue, is more related to the heat coming from behind the grill ... conducting into the grill, versus changes in the "grill plastic".

Under the JL engine compartment hood is like a friggin oven compared to the JK. That oven plus the heat from the outside environment is causing the issue. Of course, I'm just guessing.

The fix is to lather the grill generously with sunscreen lotion. Minimum of SPF45.

Folks just to circle back to my issue with my 2 month old 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL and the discoloring of the grille I dealt with Jeep Care with this issue and well as many other issues I've been dealing with and Jeep denied to do anything about my discoloring white grille. I take meticulous care of my 2018 White Jeep Wrangler JL and the discoloration in comparison to the body paint is so very much evident yet Jeep Care denied my claim despite the fact that many other 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL owners had Jeep remedy the issue by either replacing/repainting or repainting the grille. While I'm a first time Jeep owner, Sadly I will likely NEVER purchase a jeep again.

Based on all the past forum posts here regarding the yellowing grill issue, I have to say phooey so to speak in regard to your post.

MANY have reported here that FCA has warrantied / replaced / repainted the yellowing bright white grill!

I myself received a replacement / a new grill. All I had to do was ask for same, pretty much.

Actually, I am hard pressed to remember anyone else posting here, that FCA did not deal with their yellowing grill issue, in one way or the other.

Rhinebeck I totally agree with you. I've found many other posts were jeep has honored replacing/repairing/repainting the grille yet Jeep Care has denied my claim. The discoloration is so very much evident. Shame on Jeep Care!

Posting here and communicating with @JeepCares is not going to get the job done so to speak in regard to your yellowing grill. Get a new service department, contact Jeep Customer Service by telephone, email the CEO of FCA and you will see resolution to this.

For the record, I think @JeepCares is a joke at best.

YOU need to speak up in the proper manner and the proper place and push a tad harder so to speak.

Remember back a few weeks or so ago I made an appointment (Ramsey Jeep) and showed up for my appointment and was told by service that I had to drive 450+ miles back to the dealer where I orginally purchased my Jeep. Really?? From Jeep Care going from leaving me a voicemail that all of the parts are on order (specifically naming the parts they authorized which was everything that I had issue with) to denying my request and only authorizing my streaking rear and 2 side plastic windows was an absolute slap in the face. I have gone through many levels at Jeep Care and have spoken to more than one of the Jeep Care specialists. Prior to the final denial another Jeep Care representative told me the all of the parts necessary to remedy my issues where simply pending the regional manager's approval and they are waiting on that. They assured me that it would be approved and it was just a formality after I quested them. Then wham I was denied everything except the replacement plastic windows.

Trust me I'm not going away with these issues and will take it to the next level.
