I got the 4:88s on my JLR, of course it did not come with 35s, so I just bought set of GY Druatrac 35x12.50x17.

My poor 33s are spining like tops, feel sorry for them. Noted we paid the same thing for the 4:88s. One of the things I have noticed is that prices for the same thing often vary on Jeep. When I was doing builds on line at Jeep.com every build would change in price from day to day, crazy...

Also you window sticker shows 19 mpg in the city, mine shows 20, my REALITY is 13. Have not had a chance to drive on the highway yet, but doubt the 24 number. I only have 216 mi on it.

There are some threads out there on the experience with 4.88s on stock tires. I am near 5k miles and average about 18 with 22-24 on the highway. I never was below 16 or so. I can only imagine that the difference is down to driving style or possibly the automatic, but I can't imagine that is the cause.

I also compared a XR with 4.88 to a non-XR with 4.88 and the build sheet showed the XR had the HD front axle but the non-XR didn't. I was hoping the non-XR came with the HD front axle because I don't need the rest of the package. I would lift it and put wheels and tires on it. So most of the package would be gone

I am going to guess that its the drive. Most of my trips are barely 10 mi rd trip, in mostly heavy traffic, and for some reason here in SW FL, Lights are LONG and mean long. I have driven all over the US, been to 97 out the top 100 largest cities in the US, and never seen lights this slow. Which causes a long long backup, to make it worse everyone is asleep at the wheel, light goes green and they just sit there. I am in an area where the average age is OLD and OLDER, I am young and on the downhill slope to 80. I actually appreciate the engine turning off when you stop at a light. I have yet to even drive it on the Hwy. A combo of slow and long lights is my guess.

I wish I got close to the window sticker on mine. I have 4.56 with the XR package and get a combined of around 18. However, if it was straight highway I’d get much less. Once off the interstate my mileage goes up lol. Completely backwards from normal right? Lol.

IMO the 4.88 option is for those moving to 37s.

Your wheels aren't spinning any faster with 4.88's than any other gear. Your engine rpms are spinning faster.

My exact feelings as well. The thicker axle tube, the steel knuckles, the bigger brakes are what is appealing to me about the XR. Suspension, wheels, tires would all get replaced.

Does this mean we can buy factory 4.88 gears and have them installed for those with 4.10/4.56 looking to go to 37's?

Or are we stuck buying after market brands only?
