The one thing is that the rear track arm bracket is taller on the XR, so I have been toldHere’s something for this group to ponder.
Does anyone know the actual differences between the lift on the recon packages vs the mopar 2”? Aside from the obvious longer springs and shocks….. lower control arms/sway bar links the same
Out doing some simple wheeling now with a winch and bumper and I can’t help but notice how little travel is actually available and how easily it’ll bottom out on the bump stops. (front most noticeably)
what is everyone upgrading the suspension too? Seems a shame to toss it all away but……do we have a choice???
I swapped a Mopar onto my ER Jeep but mostly because I already had it on one I was trading in. Look at post 1059 for pics in this thread. Sway Links are also different on the Mopar lift. It was just to buy some time. I’m actually in the process of installing a MC 3.5 here in the next month. Here’s something for this group to ponder.

It was something I noticed and kind of rolled my eyes at. I knew it wasn’t the mopar full height etc but figured it would have more travel than it does. Oh well. We’re moving here in the spring, so I’ve self imposed a no dumb purchases clause until we do lol. You could consider adding shock extensions to recover some of the droop. They work great on our 2.5” Teraflex lift using stock shocks.I didn't like how long the front bumpstop is on my XR JLU. But I also didn't want to go much higher than the XR's 1.5" lift. So I put a set of Teraflex 0.5" spacers front & rear. It put a little more space under the front bumpstop, and I now have a full 2" of lift. No steering adjustments needed. I already have the Mopar LCAs. I have no intention of going to 37" tires, and I think it looks good with this additional 0.5" lift.
But now I've decreased how much droop my front axle has by 0.5". In measuring the front shocks when I was adding the spacer lift, I now have only 2" left on my front shocks before they're fully extended. I haven't taken my new Jeep off-road yet, so it is pretty much a moot point for now. But my next suspension mod will be a set of four Fox 2.0 IFP shocks for a 2-3" lift.
I made an error in my previous post. I have 3" left of droop in my front shocks, not 2" (I corrected it). Still not much. You could consider adding shock extensions to recover some of the droop. They work great on our 2.5” Teraflex lift using stock shocks.
I was also and they aren’t cheap but I have Gorilla Automotive Black Locking Lug Nuts from Amazon and love them. I got them way back when the XR first came out and didn’t want people stealing they wheels since they were in high demand. You have to buy one full set (20) and one smaller set (4 lugs) to accommodate the spare also.I am unreasonably bothered by the chrome lug nuts on my black XR wheels. I assume I'm not alone and some of you have swapped those out for black? Link your favorites, please!
Now I can’t unsee it. Definitely will need to upgrade ours when they come.I am unreasonably bothered by the chrome lug nuts on my black XR wheels. I assume I'm not alone and some of you have swapped those out for black? Link your favorites, please!
Before changing wheels for Black Rhinos with caps covering the lugnuts, I had black lugnut covers that worked perfectly in making them disappear.I am unreasonably bothered by the chrome lug nuts on my black XR wheels. Thanks for the insight. My dad has a high tide and we were just discussing this very idea. With the long distance move coming in the spring, I’ve put a hold on large mods but might just have to go this route.I didn't like how long the front bumpstop is on my XR JLU.
