I was mostly worried about the screws corroding.
Yes, who knows. It's an area where they could corrode. But may not. Or they may. I have no idea.

What I do know is that my flat black OEM Mojave wheels have no unpainted metal other than where the wheel mates up with the hub. And frankly, I don't care how they wear because they are ugly and boring.

I didn't mean to imply that there were issues. There aren't any as far as I know. What I do know is that my primary wheels have always stayed nicer when they didn't have to deal with winter salt.

Our trucks have the added question mark of those 20 screws around the perimeter. I am 100% speculating now. I have no knowledge of any issues.
The bolts were also my concern. Last year they help up fine. Will see about this year.

I want to explore Death Valley in the winter. Have you modified anything? Were there any areas that your Jeep didn't/couldn't or chose not to go due to potential damage? I have seen videos; however, they often take the hard way to make their videos look more impressive. I don't want to damage my wife's new Jeep that is on order! Any advice?
No modification to suspension or performance, add ons include Midland mtx275, KC pro 6 wide 40 beams up top, KC Slim light spot beams down low, JCR full roof rack, rock slide engineering spare tire mount for rotopax and propane, a axe+shovel mount, and my pelican mount and case up top with all the recovery gear in it + 12k Badlands winch mounted with Maximus 3 plate and anchor. Fuel range was the only worry, I only had to use 1, 2 gallon rotopax when we woke up the final day to leave when we got off the trail my range was at 90 miles and the nearest gas station was 50 miles away with the roto giving us about 35 of the 90 miles. We did the souther side of Death Valley starting at Henry wade to Butte valley to Briggs camp and we ended at Ballarat ghost town. We had hoped to do pleasant canyon loop but we used up too much time splashing in the mud haha. We had some very strong gust at night the first night with rain and the 2nd night we were higher up so we had same gust with some snow. Jeep handled everything amazing with the extra weight and gear, I belly rubbed maybe twice going through the Briggs camp section of the trail. Some sections of the trail do narrow down a bit but even with the fender flares I was able to keep the them and the body off the mountain and rocks.

Great information! I saw your sleeping bag and gear. Did you sleep in Jeep? Your setup is nice and I took some notes!!! What air pressure did you run in the Briggs Camp area. I just watched a short video and it is a rough patch for sure.

We packed to sleep in our tents both nights but we got lucky and we’re able to snag the first come first serve cabins that are in that section of Death Valley. First one we slept in was “Clint’s cabin” near “ Russell camp” and the 2nd night was “stone cabin” on Briggs trail. Both our sleeping bags are 0 degree temps that have been tested in below 30degrees before. With the K02 I always air down to 15 psi, if it’s snowy I’ll go down to about 12 or 11psi. I Wanna head out soon for a day trip just to contribute some supply’s to these cabins to keep them lasting.

After nearly a year with this thing, I can say it is without question the most fun 4x4 I’ve ever owned😄

Really happy with the XR pkg and glad i went that route.

Thanks for the videos and Jeep looks sweet. Love the "Oh s**t!" followed by "you're good" in one of the videos. Get's me excited for my trip to Moab in April (not EJS week). Also can't wait to upgrade to those 37 KM3's and the can of worms that comes along with it. Are you still on the AEV 2" spacer lift or have you upgraded shocks/springs? I'm on a Teraflex 1.5" spacer lift and looking to get some longer shocks before my trip. Not sure what to go with yet...

thanks!

lol - I actually don’t even know that guy and wasn’t using him to spot; I was just taking the line I knew and he stepped up and starting trying to direct me.

you’re gonna love those KM3s. I’d never run them before this rig and they hook up on everything. I’ve only been airing them down to 13-14psi and they’ve been absolutely fantastic.

yes, still running the spacers and really have no major issues other than wanting a better performance when hitting long sections of corrugated roads or when fully loaded with camping gear. I get full travel out of the stock suspension and no rubbing as long as I disconnect the front sway bar. I’d never run spacers until this rig and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. That said, i’m trying to work through another lift decision now (maybe Teraflex ST3??) to have something set by spring.

I’m envious of your Moab trip - we typically go twice a year, but not this year … we are shooting to hit CO in July for a week, but with all the snow they’ve been having we may find ourselves back in Moab (albeit with the hardtop and AC on 😉).

Well, I got my 2023 XR (3.6) and put some Black Rhino Primm (-18 offset) with KM3 37x12.5r17 on there. Need to go flex to see if it needs 2” rear bump stops or 3/4” coil spacer… but the look is quite nice.
