Thanks for sharing, and I am impressed at your stamina! I thought the drive from Seattle to Moab was long.

If you have time, the "Subway" cave hike in Sedona is very pretty and not too hard. I think dogs are allowed, but cannot remember. Broken Arrow is a fun trail and one of the first places I went wheeling in a Jeep, however if Moab is "Varsity" Sedona is definitely "JV" at least in terms of Jeep trails. The Sedona scenery is just a beautiful though
I enjoy living vicariously through the others that share their trips on here, figured it was time to return the favor. We're lucky to be able to make this trip, life is always too stressful, and we see the cost as an investment in our quality of life.

I do quite a bit of traveling for work, but the Jeep is definitely more wearing than the Ram I normally drive. The worst part is the noise from the Pro-6 bar, about half the time it creates a whistle between 75-80. That and you may as well be driving a sailboat with the high winds across the great plains.

Thanks for the recommendations! The more extreme stuff is a blast, but a nice scenic trail run is often more enjoyable.

We've started our month long October journey.

Left Charlotte Friday evening in the midst of Ian, made it to Wyoming Sunday afternoon.

So far: 2k miles @14.5 mpg in the 4xe

1664833356355.png

We stayed in Fort Collins, CO, Saturday night, and took the Snowy Ridge scenic byway west. First week we're working out on af Air BnB just north of Pinedale, WY. We checked in and drove a few miles down the road to hit the Monument Ridge BOH.

Exploring Jackson Hole this evening, planning to hit the Red Desert Driving Tour and Fishermen's Creek Road this week, and explore Yellowstone this weekend.

Remaining week long stops: Moab, Bryce/Zion, and Sedona.

Moab lodging is limited and pretty expensive right now, so we may rearrange the weeks a little bit. We have camping gear, but are working remote Monday-Thursday so we need Wifi (or a shower and a starbucks, lol). We brought the dogs, so it’s making it tougher to find good air bnb’s.

@mgroeger Mike, any recommendations on a good place to stay when we're down in your neck of the woods in a couple weeks? Any good trail reference sites?

Are you planning to hit Ouray? I highly recommend you do!
We did Imogene/Ophir/Cinnamon/Engineer in July in a rental so we were going to skip it this time so we could get out toward you and AZ.

Last update from WY, typing this in a Conestoga Wagon drinking a Snake River Brewing Hazy, head out for Moab in the morning.

Thursday started out great, we hit Razzberry Ridge ATV trail, and grabbed dinner at Elkhorn before heading home. That’s when it turned rough, what I believe was a Pronghorn antelope ran right in front of me on highway 191. It didn’t make it, but the Jeep did ok. It hit the left corner of my bumper and spun around to the drivers side. Took out chunks out of both driver side fenders and beat up the driver door.

Friday morning we headed North and spent the day touring Grand Teton NP before checking into our Wagon. Today we fit all of Yellowstone into one day. To be honest, I prefer Teton to Yellowstone purely for the views. Close encounters with Bison and Elk, but no Moose of Bear spottings. The northern entrances and associated roads are all still shut down from the floods, but everything else was accessible with just a handful of construction zones doing repairs.

Got tied up in a meeting until late on Monday, so that was shot. We did Hell's Revenge yesterday. Thinking Top of the World after work today.

Top of the world is a great trail, of course the payoff is awesome. Unfortunately I tore a sidewall on the way out. Ended up being a night ride for the exit.

Luckily, I found a local shop that can get a replacement KO2 for me tomorrow morning. Can definitely use a down night after last night's adventure.

Will be ready to spend the weekend checking off trails.

Not surprised with the KO2s on that trail. Personally I think that trail sucks ball$ but as you noted the payoff is awesome. For me it was a "been there done that once and I'm good for life" trail... lol.

You're in for a real treat when you get here to Sand Hollow. It's like Moab was thrown into a pot, cooked down and condensed into a mountain of fun. Can't wait to take you guys out!!!
