I completed the survey, though I have no issues at all. Mine steers perfectly. In fact it seems a little more responsive than my Ram was, which took a little getting used to. Just a slight tilt of the wheel and oops we're changing lanes. Ha ha. Gotta keep the wheels straight and steady just like every sports car I've owned. I'm not saying my JL is as responsive as a sports car, but the Jeep does exactly what I tell it to.
My wife's Renegade feels the same way, with very touchy input response. This is not an issue for me, since I actually keep my hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. I could see where it may be an issue for people who are eating, playing with the radio, using their phone, or otherwise distracted. For example, taking a video on a public road at 70 mph. SMH. I get the intent of the video, but not the best method to document the concern.

I am a one hand steerer and found the driver inputs using this method may be the issue, I think the jeep may just be sensitive to these inputs vs other vehicle you may be used to. I put two hands on the wheel and I dont even think about it. It could also be I'm not having the issues others are too, and that is certainly possible.
Yes, you and I aren't having the same issues that others are having. I've seen some videos and ye...if my steering wheel was doing all that, I wouldn't be driving my Jeep.

A perfect steering Wrangler proves to us, less fortunate, that there is definitely something seriously wrong with our Jeeps. Consider yourself blessed.

Hi TaiMc,

We appreciate the hard work that you put into this googledoc to document the steering concerns that you are experiencing. At this time, I have forwarded this information internally. However, in order to provide additional assistance, we need VINs. I understand that many of you have sent your VIN, and we have had private message conversations regarding this topic. If you have yet to send us your VIN for a steering concern, please private message us. We do recommend taking your Jeep to the dealer so that they can properly assess this concern.

Absolutely. That's part of the reason I completed the survey, so they can see that this isn't just how the Wrangler is. It's an issue with some of them. If the only responses they're getting show play, it's hard to say that it's a defect. When you can see that others don't have play it's evident the issue isn't the norm.

Hope you all get a fix soon. It would be very unnerving to turn the wheel several degrees without a response from the tires.

Yup!!! :like:

There are a lot of members that completed the survey whose wranglers drive just fine. I also completed the survey and mine is good.

It was really loose at first when I drove it off the lot. Had to correct it A LOT, but now that it has about 2k miles on it, I can one-hand it NP. I've found that resting my left elbow on the door and positioning my hand toward the middle of the steering wheel feels the best...hardly any correction from me. I think that my steering is a bit sensitive and any input given by a certain hand position will make it "adjust"..sorta feel like it was designed to be that way purposely...to be a bit agile; and I cant stop bragging about the turning radius....really FCA??? This turning radius is just sooo lovely. :involve::involve:

Thanks for setting up the survey to collect this data. I have only driven my Jeep about 250 miles so far, but the steering is exactly as I’d expect. No issues at any speed (I think about 85 was my top speed when passing on the interstate). Hopefully these results will help others get things fixed right!

I used to drive my '99 Dakota the same way. I had forgotten all about riding like that since I couldn't do it in the Ram (door was too far from the wheel). Then I got the JL, and just naturally put my arm like that. Ahhhh, just like I remember. Very relaxed driving position while still keeping the extra hand on the wheel. I do this all the time... again. :)
