I have hauled at maximum payload and towed at maximum towing capacity with the gas version and it worked just as well as any full size truck I have ever owned. And I have owned a lot of full size trucks. I can only imagine that the diesel Gladiator I have on order right now will be even better.Been a big appeal but from what I've heard, still struggles and isn't fun to tow with
mine is a little longer but very similar to yours.I tow with a 3.6 and a slightly smaller trailer and personally I think the JLUR makes a pretty good tow rig. Mine is 2558 lbs. dry, and I did move some stuff around to take some weight of the tongue.
I think if you try hard to keep it light and don’t fill your water tank until close to destination, you’ll be fine. Take my opinion for what’s it worth, we all have em.
When the trailer becomes heavier than the tow vehicle everything changes.
40 years driving triple trailers in Oregon gives me some street cred on the subject.
You do have slightly more power than me.mine is a little longer but very similar to yours.
Everything else is the same with those units vs the US ones correct? Is it just our regulations are stricter or the manufactures have to use a specific calculation here? Seems crazy the US versions are rated at 2,000 lbs less.A regular Rubicon tow capacity is 5500 lbs overseas...use that information as you see fit.

I couldn't tell you. I made a thread about it and someone suggested the lawyers are the reason, but I don't believe that. I think Jeep/FCA is sandbagging us.Everything else is the same with those units vs the US ones correct? This is true. But it's up to the individual to decide if straddling the risk is worth the reward
Look at the Power Wagon.I couldn't tell you. I made a thread about it and someone suggested the lawyers are the reason, but I don't believe that. I think Jeep/FCA is sandbagging us.
You would know better than I, I've never even sat in a gladiator. Just what I've heard from someone else which is why I noted that lolI have hauled at maximum payload and towed at maximum towing capacity with the gas version and it worked just as well as any full size truck I have ever owned. Call LOD off-road. Their rear bumper replaces the factory hitch mount and ties it to the original hitch mount location as well as the frame rails. As you only need ~500lbs more tow it is worth calling them.Do you know of anyone who makes a hitch for the JL that bolts to the frame and not a crossmember?
Change your screen name to Austin PowersCouple weekends ago I had to tralier my 1978 original Mini to the mechanic about 70 miles away. Used the landscapers dual axle v-shaped tongue trailer. Not sure what trailer weighed but Mini weighs about 1600lbs. Put most weight up front for better stability. It did weigh down the back of my 2021 JLU80 suspension. But super steady on the highway at 55mph with cruise control.
That's fine, but it doesn't explain the different tow capacity overseas.Look at the Power Wagon.
GVWR is normally 10,000 lbs but because of its off-road setup GVWR is reduced to 8,565 lbs resulting in lower payload & towing ability.
Bronco will be capped at 3,500 lbs towing too. These soft suspension setups for maximum articulation off road result in lower payload & towing ability.
