I'd hold out for more money. We just saw a new 21 2 door Rubicon hardtop automatic that has a market addendum added to it of 10,000. We just traded our 20 2 door rubicon because of the paint bubble issues and got more for it than we paid for it.

The fact that you get the tax savings even if you sell to vroom, privately etc is a big part of the equation.

Seems like it'd be a good thing to time this right. This being said, beyond the possibility of prices dropping, you may hit a dear or an elephant, who knows... a bird in the hand..

Hey, if anyone on here knows anything about the tax laws as they pertain to New York, please chime in. I think in NYS, the only way for a tax savings is to trade in to a dealer at time of purchase.

I was in a similar situation and sold my JLUR in ~Sept and took a 3k hit vs offers earlier in the summer but expected that. In your case, Spring is coming up and wholesalers may factor that into their offers...

Driveo seem aggressive on offers, and were willing to go above what i received from my 3 weeks of scratching - I seemed to get around top end of KBB (tradein) and around $700 less than top end of Balck Book ($6K range) & they were willing to consider going above this.

Anyways - Auto Nation - Driveo - That's my take on it hawking round this last 3 weeks, and 5 inspections, and baiting a few dealerships on order and trade in pricing

I sold to BMW on the 22nd Dec for $47K

They listed for $54K - observe they have dropped to $53K yesterday ( I thought at time they should have been listing @ $51/$52 )

KBB has small $500 drop in value this last 3-4 weeks on mid trade/mid private

I also noticed they marked your old Jeep as a manual vs automatic (pictures show automatic).

I too am seeing values moderate a bit lower on used Jeeps. I think one of the factors that may be contributing to this is the delivery of the 22 models. As dealer inventories build, the scenario where used Jeeps can command similar or even higher values may be more limited.

The expectation for higher loan rates driven by an increase in the Federal funds rate may create more an incentive for buyers to buy new vs old. With that said, tax season will be here soon and consumers financials are still healthy so I wouldn't be surprised if we see values tick higher towards March/April. I am hoping I can take delivery of my new Jeep come March and will take reasonable bids ahead of that time to lock in these elevated values.

I would wait until you actually take delivery-unless you're financially strapped and need the cash, also before you settle go to some of those other sites and see what they have offered and what they are offering-fortunately for you this is one of the best times to be a seller.

Gas prices are supposed to go up another 25% by this summer. So it will most likely drive the resale value down. So Id sell asap.

Manheim released their used car price for mid-January. Prices are relatively flat MoM, but I am seeing a bit more weakness in used car prices in my region of new england.

I'm kinda happy i got out and locked down a price - out of USA for 7 weeks, so would have just been sitting on driveway

picking up the Landy in the picture tomorrow - so possibly driving that 1500-2000 km up to Namibia in February

Given your situation, I would have done the same. Glad you locked in a great price!

BMW now dropped my 2019 Sahara to $52K - $2K drop in 1 month
BMW dropped my wrangler another $500 - $2500 since December 23rd - i always thought they priced it too high

I take a look at KBB with same parameters to get feel on how market is - Trade & Private sale are now down around $2500 from when i sold out on December 22nd - looks like i timed it right but there was an outlier in late November when Vroom were showing a crazy number but it was never inspected

Nice. Used car values here have been pretty firm. Wonder if the market selling is leaving some folks on the sidelines for now on big purchases like vehicles.

I locked in my vroom quote which was over $1k above MSRP and $5k above my original purchase price and above their initial quote at the end of December. My hope is that my new Wrangler will arrive by early March
