Just ask @cosine he knows!
Keep looking. I was out the door for 32K on a new 2019 in similar trim.
x2, mine is just about identical except in Sting Gray.

I would be super hesitant to buy any vehicle that was previously rental, doesn't matter what make. I'd consider if it was a super great deal

You can build a sport on the Jeep website with a soft top for just about $30k. I’d save fir a while or change a habit to free up some extra $$$ and buy new for almost the same price.

Have you ever heard the term "one-owner car"? Well, a rental is like a "100-owner car"!

I'd stay away.

A guy I worked with bought a used bottom-level Taurus then proceeded to rent one every month so he could swap parts. They never noticed that the CD player was now just an AM/FM radio or that the alloy wheels were black steel with hubcaps. Etc....
So you just put out there that he's a thief...and you think this is OK???

I've worked with hundreds of guys all over the US. I dont think any division of law enforcement is clever enough to narrow down who it was. My point was that you may end up with a different vehicle than planned based on what renters have done to it.

Is this a trick question🤓? Hell no, I would never consider it. Watch YouTube videos of how people treat rentals. That should convince you.

I've seen a few that came out of Hawaii, all of them show signs of rust and corrosion. I wouldnt buy because of that.

And the point was taken. That story was what pushed me over the edge from being very hesitant to no longer having any interest in the vehicle. You truly have even less an idea how a rental was treated than a used car from a lot (which is almost none). I’m ordering new.

A carfax is $20 it's worth the investment to save yourself a headache. Better yet, if it is a carfax certified vehicle, is purchase protected. At the least it shows service history

Would never consider buying a rental vehicle ever. People who rent them generally treat them like crap. Hard pass...

But it could probably be had out the door for around 30K,
Seems you want it too much; about 8 grand too much. A modestly equipped 2 door rental, 30 grand? Offer 21k, stand your ground; leave; they'll call you. Then, show 'em 22k. Walk away again. You can order a new one like that for $34k without any back bone whatsoever. I had a JLR on order for 38k a year ago, then the build sheet changed by one month. I didn't like what the factory pulled, cancelled and bought very used and very built for 1/3 the cost without regrets. Today's dealers take millennial soft heads for granted. Don't be one.
