Hello,

I've got a 2018 JLU Sport S, and I have had the steering stabilizer replaced due to the recall. Currently, the steering wheel wobbles while driving on slightly bumpy roads. I haven't had a death wobble since the new steering stabilizer was replaced last year, but I'd like to fix the wobbly steering. Should I be looking at replacing the stock steering box? I heard my year/model has a worse steering box than other models, does the dealer replace this for free? Or is there an aftermarket one I should go for? Please advise,

Thanks,

edit: forgot to add - 2 inch mopar lift with fox shocks and ko2 35s on method 305s

Wobbles like the tires aren't balanced right ?
It’s like a slight wobble in the steering wheel side to side maybe an inch - car still goes straight

Our 2018 did that, and the updated cast iron steering gear box fixed it.

did you get the dealer to do it for you for free? I'm figuring they'll try and fight me for some $$

Yes, a known problem, so no cost to us. But, ours only had 18,000 miles on it, which may have played are part of it still being in warranty.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
May depend if you have a good relationship w/ your service dept, some dealers are ok about ordering TSB repairs outside the warranty window, obviously YMMV.

Had the new TSB steering gear box replaced a couple years ago, it was a good improvement. Our 2dr never had bad steering until it was over 100 degrees, then there was some slop in the wheel and more prone to wander. The new cast iron box doesn't change at all over temp so it's all good now.
