Let’s be real, the Gladiator is a flat out boring design. Instead of creating a truck that stands above the crowd and makes your head turn every time you see it, they put out a Wrangler with a bed.

I read an article yesterday. Of course I can't remember it word for word. However the basics of what it said was. Stellantis will only be showcasing the Jeep brand at the upcoming Detroit auto show, and from what little info. There was it seemed like not much was going to change.

It also stated something like stellantis has somewhat dropped the ball for this show and is not ready.

After reading the article, I thought maybe there just playing the surprise game and have plans for and big surprise.

But then I thought, no, probably just wishful thinking.

IMO the 4 door JT is a lost cause. It’s outrageous expensive compared to its competitors, is bad at doing truck things like hauling and towing, and is awkwardly long off-road. Besides slashing prices dramatically (which is something dealers were forced to do before Jeep allowed employee pricing) I think jeep has 2 options to turn the Gladiator into something useful: a 3 row “Grand Wrangler” to better use all of that length, and/or a Scrambler revival on the same wheelbase as the JLU, complete with only two seats and removable bulk head between the cab and attached 6 foot bed allowing for WAY more use cases then a quad cab / tiny bed can. Both options would be completely unique on the market.

the gladiator isn’t meant to be a full size truck so it’s on par with other mid sizes in towing capacity and bed size. The ZR2 has front and rear lockers but lack the solid axle suspension. As much as I would love an increase in payload capacity and power for towing, it’s not fair to compare it to a full size truck for doing truck stuff.

This got posted in April:

As much as I would love a 392 Gladiator, seems like it'll be the 4xE.
There ya go. As much as I like the 392, the Hemi is dead man walking. Besides, if they do it to a Gladiator they’ll make it as expensive as the TRX. It’ll be a couple more years before Jeep extracts their collective heads from their 3rd point of contact and brings us sane prices.

My prediction is like everyone else. We’re getting most or all of the Wrangler’s improvements. We might get the 4xe. Maybe they’ll offer an option for 35s.

Beyond that they’ll probably do a few special editions.

I don’t think we’ll get the Hurricane in the Wrangler or Gladiator until after the Hemi is fully retired.

Will the Gladiator be around in 3 or 4 years seems to be the question I would ask. Sales keep dropping as they got more ridiculously expensive.

10k off is not unheard of these days but that only puts the JT and JL at what it should be MSRP to me. 3.6 is just not a good engine for JT to me, The mojave with a 5.7 would probably had sold well. Hurricane is the only way to go if it will fit etc. in the current chassis.

4xe could save the huge sales slump but are their enough parts to go around? The JL 4xe is hugely popular not sure about the GC.

I'm in the best-guess is a Gladiator 4Xe camp. A little concerned sticking the Wrangler battery in there (what other option do they have if they go this route?) would mean absolutely laughable range with any real load. It could be a massive mistake. Or maybe a huge win for those buying just to "haul something" once or twice a year.

I have absolutely no need/use for a two door Gladiator, but man it would be awesome.
