Forgive me if this is a rudimentary question, but I just struggle to grasp electrical concepts no matter how much I read them.

So, most LED kits for vehicles have a 12v cigarette lighter included with them. From what I understand, if you cut and strip the adapter off the end, you'll have a pair of red and black wires. I understand that the red would be the hot wire, which theoretically I could connect to one of my aux switch wires for juice. But, the black wire that should go to ground... does that need to be on a bolt? The auxiliary system itself has in-line fuses and is also grounded, so do I need to ground what I install inside the vehicle as well?

I ask because I would also like to install a dash cam eventually, and the aux wires in the passenger footwell only have one free ground stud near them.
