1 - Gorilla Glass - Stress crack - Jeep warranty
2 - Gorilla Glass - Massive sand storm pitted - Insurance
3 - Gorilla Glass - Rock the size of a golf ball on the driver-side - Out of pocket
4 - Gorilla Glass - Rock the size of a golf ball dead center - Out of pocket
5 - Budget glass - Small rock under wiper blade with a 3' crack - Out of pocket

Purchased the 4XE in May 2022 has 20k miles. I would have had a few more mods by now. :swear: Now it's something to giggle about.

There needs to be a modifier for time. Because 5 windshields over 5 years is less impressive than 5 windshields over 2.

ie. I've had mine for 6 months

1. Budget Glass - rock on the interstate, 12" long crack - insurance
2. Budget Glass - same interstate, different rock (I'm assuming), 24" long crack - insurance

USAA does not cover glass in Colorado unless you claim it as an accident and then you have to pay the deductible.

2021 JLUR

1. OEM windshield - took a rock from a truck within first 5 miles driving home from purchasing it at the dealer!!! Chunked out a quarter size hole.
2. OEM windshield - 6 months after above, took a rock from another truck that was traveling the opposite direction
3. Gorilla Glass - held up OK for a year and a half and then chipped from a rock and when it got cold a month later, spread quickly
4. Cheap aftermarket windshield - 1/3 price of Gorilla Glass held up for a year before taking a monster rock that would have broken any type of windshield.
5. Cheap aftermarket windshield - pitted but holding it's own.

First one, did it properly. Standard glass, getting replaced with Gorilla.

LOL, I have put in 5 or more windows (lost count) and my current window has a nasty chip...Bins Wanger glass sends me a Christmas card every year. My current window is chewed up right now...will replace when crack starts to look bad. I used to know one of their workers before he retired by name. Windows have had chips repaired many times. Probably over 10 times have I had work done. Also, 3 more times for whistling noises after installation...

Question: Does Gorilla Glass keep window crystal clear as every window I have purchased has looked chewed up within a year or so? Now I have two Jeeps...one is 2 months old so still good.

I did not feel that Gorilla Glass did much better with the small pitting. I was initially super excited about Gorilla Glass and it did take a few good smacks before finally giving in. However, the extra cost for something that will still break with a big enough rock was just not worth it.

Took delivery in November 2022: I still have the original windshield with zero cracks, chips, or scratches. Y'all need to stop tailgating and you may not be replacing windshields so often, lol. Remember, for every 10 mph you are traveling, you should have at least one full car-length between you and the vehicle in front of you.

2020 (built 11/21), bought in May of that year, 20k miles and still on the original pre covid windshield.

All of you must realize by now that the Gorilla glass layer on the windshields is on the inside. The outside layer is still conventional glass.

Approaching 30k miles and 2 years of ownership and no cracks yet, just a few chips.

Really depends on where you live. I lived in St. Louis for seven years and never broke a windshield. Here in Denver, with all of the construction and constant snow events with rocks being thrown down for traction, we are breaking windshields from cars going the opposite direction, 2 lanes over...

I live in southern Alberta, we don’t even bother replacing windshields until the visibility becomes a problem.
I keep a stock of the DIY windshield chip repair kits on hand, in fact, just last night I repaired a chip in my wifes 4 Runner that I got yesterday afternoon.

I once had a work truck and started counting windshield chips. I stopped counting at 30 and that was just the drivers side.?
