Picked up my new 2018 Rubicon JL last week. Everything great until I hit 61mph and up. Then the whistle coming from the windshield (I think) became terribly annoying. Appointment tomorrow with the dealer, but really afraid by taking it there it may get worse when they try to diagnose the issue. Anyone else care to comment on what steps I should be taking.
Thanks.

Hello
I just picked up my Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited JL.
It started making an irritating whistling noise at from 50-90km. Some sort of wind turbulence which was really annoying. This is not the normal wind noise that is expected from Jeeps

The dealership told me they have two service bulletins.
1) They tape the windshield at the seals and if the whistling goes, they then use some black silicone.

2) This is a replacement of the foam pieces behind the windshield, since it folds. They didn't have the parts in stock and FCA didn't have a part number either.

Anyhow,
After only doing option 1, the whistling noise is gone and am really happy. Will inform you of any other issues that I face.

Sad that we have to deal with their quality issues, only thing making me patient is that I enjoy the car and it looks awesome.

FCA....please focus on quality....
First replaced transmission valve body and now this

I had a similar thing, and it turns out in my case, the driver side freedom panel was not seated properly by tiny tiny bit. made a whistling noise once I got up to speed. Took the panel off, put it back on. Noise went away.

Thank you for the info. It's at the dealership now and they taped and tested and taped and tested and yes they found the service bulletin, so now they are fixing it and it has to cure for 24 hours then I should be hopefully happy with the result. Thank you for the heads up on the service bulletins. I did let the service writer know they existed!!

HI Lydia:

The dealership said they replaced the seal around the windshield and I was without my Jeep for two days, however when I picked it up today and drove down the highway at 65mph, the same noise in the same place was still there and might even be a bit worse. I am leaving to go out of town for the holidays so I could not turn around and head back, however I will be taking it back once again, when I get back.

Lydia, the dealer has had the Jeep since the Friday before Christmas and the issue with the whistling is still an issue. Today is 12/28 and it still has not been corrected and the service department tech has worked on the Jeep off and all for over a week. The Jeep is brand new and the only miles being put on it are from the service department since I took delivery of it. Disappointed is putting it mildly. This is a quality issue and it is unacceptable.

Is there a TSB number yet? After having my JLU in and out, and the windshield replaced that only made it worse, they want to show me that it is normal by driving another Wrangler. It isnā€™t normal. Help @JeepCares!

Hi Dooles,
We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing this as well. I found STAR case S1823000059 that may help with your concern. I suggest addressing this with you dealer so they can determine if this applies to your Jeep. You may also send us a private message if you would like any assistance with this. We're happy to help!

smillerpulling,

Any resolution to your whistling issue? I have the same and was wondering if the STAR case number that JeepCares provided helped.

actually the dealer bought my Jeep back and I got another new one. The noise could not be fixed after three weeks in the shop and trying everything including a new windshield. Craziest dang thing ever but so thankful I was dealing with a dealer who had a lot of integrity.
