Hi guys, just wanted to give an update on what was causing my windshield whistle.

After inspecting every inch of my Jeep, last week I noticed that there was a slight gap in the weather seal that is right under the windshield on the outside of my Jeep. The gap was only a couple inches long on the driverā€™s side corner. Itā€™s not super visible to the eye, it looks as if someone just took a razor blade and separated the clear weather seal from the frame. My appointment with my dealer was not until today, and I had a road trip I was getting ready to take so I put a strip of electrical tape over the gap. The windshield whistle stopped immediately. I took it to the dealer, and they are ordering a new weather seal and windshield that will be installed next week. Definitely be sure to check this if you are having the same issue. Good luck!
Are these the same gaps that you had?

Could you post some pictures so other going through similar issue could inspect their jeep?

Thanks,

Yes! They were exactly like that.
Just wondering, if applying some sort of weatherstrip adhesive (3M or Permatex) would simply fix those gaps.
Is that even recommended or will it mess up the windshield? Anyone?

Hopefully this matters, but I don't have any wind noise and I definitely don't have that gap on the seal of my windshield. I think you guys found the problem.

The dealer told me that he could just put some sort of adhesive on it, but that it wouldnā€™t look the same. He said if he just bought a new Jeep, heā€™d want it to be done like it was supposed to be when I bought it. He is going to remove my windshield and hopefully reinstall the same one, but he said often times the windshields will crack when they try to remove them so he is ordering a new windshield to have just in case.

That does matter, I think! When I put electrical tape over the gap, the whistle stopped. They took off the tape at the dealership today in order to look at the gap, and so when I drove home without the tape, the whistle had returned. So this was definitely the issue with mine! Hopefully it is that simple for others.

That makes sense, but I've my windshield tinted :) so was trying to avoid the hassle of replacing it then getting re-tinted.

When they put the new windshield in you should ask for your old parts "windshield" back. When I had the one in my 2012 replaced the installer used a wire to cut the old one out. Came out ok. You will need it.

I took my JL to the dealer on friday for the wind noise issue, They sent it to the body shop where the tech found an air leak on the bottom left corner by of course using the tape the window, find the air leak. He said its not a recall yet, but was in a bulletin, they are replacing the lower windshield seal next week.

I also have the dreaded 55mph ear rumbling that drives u nuts. Unfortunately
I have bigger issues, may mention it to dealer. Hard to describe that noise.
Mine sounds more like a low rumble. Like a helicopter

Update to the windshield problem. New lower seal helped but did not fix the air leak. The technician worked hours on it. They are opening a STAR ticket with Jeep, whatever that is. But no permanent fix at this time. Luckily I have a great service department that stays in contact with me and doesnt forget about it.
