I know this is an older thread, but to who ever is reading this, go ahead and do three things when you get your winch:.
Add an anodized fairlead,
Add a Winch Line Shackle mount (flat link, Pro link, etc).
Plan to get recovery gear as well because your winch is useless without it.
Synthetic line goes without saying, and those other three items are key.
A winch and no gear is like a compressor and no air hose.
