So I’m getting a synthetic line winch in a month and know it’s best to keep the line covered and protected. I’m in a garage 99% of the time. Do I need a cover? If so anyone have suggestions? I think the winch looks great no cover but road grime, salt, etc here in Ohio I don’t want to tear it up. The smittybuilt covers look like a pain to use.
Thanks in advance.

I had a synthetic type cover for the Engo I had years ago, even on a top mount application it was a PITA. With the last two winches being X20 and mounted in between the frame rails I didn't bother. The line will degrade over time anyway and should be replaced if you have the winch for a long time. Keep it free of mud and you'll be fine without a cover.
