I've searched the site but I can't find the exact answer I'm looking for, so if this is a repeat I apologize. I have a '22 Willys 2dr and I'm looking at the 2.5" Rock Krawler flex lift and was wondering if I can use the shocks that came on my jeep since they are from a Rubicon? Would I also need bump stops? It would save me a little money up front and I could always upgrade the shocks in the future. Thanks everyone!

I don't believe so. I think once you install a 2.5" lift which I assume will give you closer to 3" of lift I don't think your factory shocks will be long enough especially at full flex, assuming you'll be going off-road.

I think 1.5” is about the limits on the stock Rubi shocks. Plus they’re under dampened and too soft anyways. Buy a set of shocks that matches your lift.

The stock shocks are too short at stock height, limiting down travel to just 3-3.5". In my opinion a simple shock swap to something with ~10" of travel is the most beneficial mod you can do for offroading for under $1k. A set of bilstein 5100s can be had for $400. Where else are you gaining >30% more articulation for $400?

I've heard the bilsteins have a harsh ride. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I have them on my 2dr SportS. My Jeep is very light - soft top, plastic bumpers, no back seat. Don’t think they’re harsh at all. Firm, yes, but very stable, good return, etc etc. I have them paired with the Clayton 1.5” springs.

I installed a Clayton Overland 1.5" lift on my '22 2dr Willys. It actually lifted the Jeep 3", so your 2.5" lift will likely lift it more than 3". You'll need new shocks, and yes, bumpstops.

I figured on new bumpstops but I was hoping to do the shocks down the line. I'll give the bilsteins a shot. Thanks everyone!
