^^ Nice.

looks like the Willys package comes with the LSD and I’m assuming Jeep is still using the Trac Lok unit. Heads up that this is a problematic unit in the JK’s and I’m assuming it is still the same unit so probably for the JL’s too. I would be religious about changing the rear end fluid every 20k and hope that it doesn’t self destruct. About to put in a Truetrac in mine to replace the stock junk. Hopefully the JL unit doesn’t suffer from this same weakness.

That first rear end gear oil change matters most, better to change it at 10k miles or even less. P.S. Just do it yourself, it's easier than doing an oil change.

If you change to a 34 or 35 inch tire, will you have to change the tire carrier for the spare?

Hi All, new Jeep owner. Just picked up this girl yesterday. Sarge Green was hard to find in my area so I had it built. I was impressed at how aggressive looking the Firestones are. I would love to get a slight lift and maybe 33"s or 35"s, but hate to waste the perfectly good new tires. Anyway, happy to finally be a Jeep owner!

Looks good. Did you have issues putting your doors back on?
My hinges shifted when I put the Jpeggz on for an afternoon.
It was a pain in the butt to realign the hinges after I used them.

I had no problems at all! I've taken them off and put them on several times now with no issues.

I just looked at the JPeggz (I had never heard of them before) and it looks like they connect totally differently. Whereas the JPeggz connect to thru the top of the top hinge and the bottom of the bottom hinge, the Kikbax slide in just like your door does, and uses the hook for your door strap (by the wiring harness) to secure the mirror/foot peg.

Got my Rubi springs installed today. I’m super happy with the outcome.

Second pic shows the progression.
Stock Willys -> added 34s -> 34s plus Rubi springs

Great looking setup! What were the part numbers on the Rubi springs?

For those. with manual transmission... do you find yourself driving in 4th for the majority of the time. I got on the highway for the 1st time today and seems like 5/6 doesn't give enough power to maintain highway speeds...

this is my first Jeep and i'm not looking to win any races, but would like to maintain 70/75 when I can - observing all posted speed limit signs, of course ;)
We've had at least one manual transmission car in our fleet since 1999. I've read this elsewhere, but I honestly wonder if Jeep made the 6MT so bad that it turns so many people off it'll be dead by the end of the JL run. I still feel like I haven't quite mastered the catch point for 1st or R after 5K miles.

I thankfully do mostly around town / rural driving. I do find on the 2-lane 35-45 MPH roads, 5th just moseys along fine. I'm not hypermiling, but I'm no lead foot either.

I agree that on the highway it can feel lethargic, especially hilly highways I find myself downshifting into 5th, sometimes 4th. Not a lot of torque in 6th at lower RPMs.

This was the total opposite of the MK7 GTI we traded in, which begged you to get up in the gears almost. (yes, it's a totally different animal, I know)

We had a 2011 JKU 6MT with the minivan engine and 3.27 gears, and I don't remember the same issues getting going in 1st or highway cruising.

I will kvetch, but it's still worth it.

This was the exact same thing that i was experiencing.. I was on a 3 hr drive (mainly hwy) and felt like i was downshifting at 70+ mph a lot. And not that MPG is a term that Jeep owners necessarily care about (it is a pretty gauge), but I got getter mileage in 4th vs 5th/6th at the aforementioned speeds.

That said.. I love my Jeep and can't wait to take it out again

I recently picked up the Smitybuilt soft top boot. I think it’s great. Improves sightlines out the back. Tucks everything away nicely and cuts down any noise from the top. The boot slides into the rear crossbar and I plan on using it for storage when it’s time for the hard top.

Ordered a Willys Sport for my daughter on 5/18, arrived at Tri City on 6/16. Picked it up yesterday. She wandered all over the road at first, but got the hang of it on the drive home. She loves it. Last pic is with my JTM.
