For those. with manual transmission... do you find yourself driving in 4th for the majority of the time. I got on the highway for the 1st time today and seems like 5/6 doesn't give enough power to maintain highway speeds...

this is my first Jeep and i'm not looking to win any races, but would like to maintain 70/75 when I can - observing all posted speed limit signs, of course ;)

Great looking bumper. I have the same Willys, minus the top. Was it difficult to install the factory fog lamps? That's the only thing keeping me from installing an aftermarket bumper.

Got my Rubi springs installed today. I’m super happy with the outcome.

Second pic shows the progression.
Stock Willys -> added 34s -> 34s plus Rubi springs

This is exactly what I want to do! Looking at 34" + a mild lift. So all that is needed is Rubicon springs? Is there any disadvantage to this vs a whole kit?

A lot of the time I look down and I’m surprised to see I’ve been cruising in 3rd!

I think there might be some disadvantages when it comes to actual crawling capabilities, but that's about it. It also has a lot of advantages, like costs, all OME gear leaving everything in spec, no need for new track bars and other gear. It's a pretty good way to go, and I agree, @HHDUTCHMAN's set up looks pretty great.

This is the curse of the 3.45 gearing. Moving to 4.10s will make you enjoy the 6 speed a lot more.

I installed Rubicon Diesel springs for maximum lift. Got the whole take off suspension for $50.
i also added the Mopar slightly longer LCAs ($80) and 3/4” rear spacer for leveling ($40).

Everything seems to be working really well on and off road.

No not bad jeep has 3 kinds of fog light & the kit that comes with the bumper has most every adapter i have the LED’s and just had to drill a couple of holes and two longer bolts and it fit directly very well. Then it took awhile to totally dismantle the plastic bumper to get the wiring harness. I’m very pleased with this heavy gauge bumper.

Today i did an experiment got a set of Rubicon Diesel suspension components from a guy for 150.00 the shocks looked identical except the numbers ended with AA instead of AB anyway the springs were maybe 1/2” taller i just swapped front springs & shocks and added 1.5” spacer to level because my bumper & winch will be on . Anyway it rides the same if not better.

This isn't my Willys, but I saw it parked in a friend's neighborhood and had to snag a picture because it was so sharp. If the owner happens to stumble on it here, hope you don't mind me creep'n 🙂

If I had test driven mine more on the highway, I might not have gotten the manual transmission after all. It's a great gearbox with very nice shift action, but they put 3.45s on these things to stretch out their corporate fuel economy numbers. My initial posts were going on about how much I loved the thing, and I did, at first. After living with it as a daily driver for going on 3,000 miles, I'm bored with the 3.45s now. It needs a different final drive ratio to be practical.

I really want to regear, but I haven't figured out what size tire I'm going to end up with after I burn off the stock 32s, so I haven't made up my mind what ratio to go with. 4.10 would work great with the stock tires, and probably with 33s, but if I end up on 35s or 37s, it would probably feel just as gutless as it does now.

There are a lot of things to weigh here. In the meantime, I can't really afford to do any of it right now, so I'm going to spend more time than I want in 4th gear.

I'm still on 100% stock suspension for now, and my Jeep did this. The Willys edition is pretty damn capable stock. (Uh, I did unbolt the sway bar end links, so not totally stock, but no parts added or swapped when this was taken.)
