If you have to replace the aux battery, replace both batteries. The weaker battery will run down the stronger battery.

For today, it is enough to get your family and the Jeep home safely.

What voltage did you find on those batteries? Engine running and engine off voltage checks will show you a lot. Let it sit overnight and check again to get a better idea of just how bad they may be.

It's home in the garage :like:

I'll update as I get it worked out.

Maybe a new front bumper and lights will fix the issue too.

Thanks for the advise!
don't forget the lift kit! it stops all problems,,,, or starts them

It really is. I've had 2 BMWs and a Subaru with ASS and they worked perfectly fine with a single battery. Not sure why they felt the need to implement this screwy dual-battery system.
 I see what you did there.

Running it was at 14.3, off after sitting for an hour it's at 12.4.

One issue that just came to mind is that 90% of the time I disable ESS, last week I forgot to disable it and it wasn't shutting the jeep off as it normally did. There was no message stating that ESS was disabled though. I didn't think much about it at that time.

I found a great post in this forum about bypassing the aux battery, im going to do that tomorrow and order a dual group 25 Genesis kit on Monday if that solves it.
