Cool read. I feel like the current sentiment regarding YJs is very positive. Can probably thank Jurassic Park for the more recent popularity.

Yeah. I think a lot of the purist hate has subsided over the years.

I can tell you i loved mine and i gave zero f*cks what the purists thought.

One day i want to get another one and build it up.

Explains why there were only a handful of changes, other than appearance, on the YJ. Square headlights in particular.
Thanks for posting this article. Several of the comments are a good read as well. I recently bought a ā€˜92 YJ thatā€™s built already. I didnā€™t know much of the history until I researched before buying it but itā€™s definitely fascinating given where we are now. I love my JL but the YJ is really fun to drive, though I wouldnā€™t like it as a daily driver, because it rides rough (and loud) with the SOA suspension and 35ā€ Pitbull Rocker tires.
