Locking your differential at high speeds is very dumb. The stress that the outer wheel is going to create when turning is gonna ruin the driveshaft or whatever. Differentials are supposed to be open when driving on roads... an LSD is perfect for dynamic driving conditions in snow or dirt roads, it is much better than lockers and lockers CAN'T replace an LSD in such situations. On the same train of thought, LSD is not a replacement for lockers when offroading through obstacles at low speeds, but it helps, a lot.

All jeeps have BLD anyway and they work in 2WD at any speed.

Is there even a reason to turn on lockers outside of 4LO? I can't think of any.
I was speaking of locking the differential in conditions which warrant it and not on the open road at highway speeds.

I 100% agree that LSD is superior for changing conditions at speed.

But I had a choice - either LSD or lockers. Not both.

So I have lockers.

Given that I don't have LSD, I'm rocking open diffs for normal driving conditions, including dynamic ones. I'd like to be able to flick my lockers on in 4hi or even the rear in 2hi for occasional deep snow like shoving through a drift or snowbank. Shifting to 4lo first is cumbersome and frankly unnecessary when all I really need is to lock the diff for a few seconds before unlocking and carrying on.

The Tazer allows rear locker in 2h/4h and front and rear in 4h.

A JK Sport - a capable driver showing what can be done with a Sport.
Viewing this, you could as well ask, why a Rubicon instead of why not...
OK, hardcore rock crawling will be a no-go, but this is a very good example of what a Sport is capable of.

I watched the whole video and I did not see anything that any 4x4 could not do. What am I missing?

When I was posted on Jalopnik over the winter, readers figured out this was a 2wd model (Yes, they briefly existed and people actually bought them).

I know, right? I have precious little off-road experience compared to what so many on the forum claim to have, but I can navigate everything that was shown with scarcely any wheel slippage in my Rubicon. I would have disconnected the sway bar but didn’t see anything that would require the use of 4LO or lockers. Either my Rubicon is extremely capable or I’m better than I think. Or both.

Reason #1 to *not* buy a Rubicon:

Atrocious red accents *everywhere* and a tacky looking red dash.

My Mojito Rubicon has a dark gray dash.
Well, that's a significantly better option. But there's still red accents like... all over the place, yes?

Aside from the tow hooks and Jeep silhouettes on the wheels, no, there are no other red accents. I assume the other models have the same?

Most that I've seen have the red dash, red tow hooks, red stitching, red on the rubicon decals, red on the Jeep badges/decals....

Ah, yes, ok, was not thinking about those. Those are there too, but (at least for me), it is not overkill.
