I talked to my sales person today and he still didn't have any dates for me. I asked him how many orders they've had for the diesel and he informed me that I'm the only one that has special ordered a wrangler diesel.

The 450 lb weight gain over the front axle scares me. Is the Jeep still going to flex or just flop being so unbalanced front-to-rear now?

Wow! That’s almost half the payload capacity of a JLU

Other interesting tidbits from the video

- 2 doors are only 10% of sales

- EcoDiesel towing capacity remains at 3,500 lbs as expected

450 overall weight increase and not just over front axles. They added DEF tank, cooling lines, skid plates, and who knows what else. Nevertheless there will be added weight over the front axles.

Want JLURD. Have JKUR, 10 VW's and Dad's Willys Pickup.

And a heavier front axle

Maybe they increased the payload capacity (we can hope).

Another thing we learned is that the DEF tank is 5.1 gallons.

I wish he had said if they protected the DEF dosage unit with a skid plate.

There is a skid under the DEF tank, he talks about it at 3:35 in the video

Given how much time they spent wheeling it to create different spring rates and shock tune, I doubt you’ll notice much of a difference. People have been adding this kind of weight and then some with overland builds forever and doing just fine on the rocks.

I did not mean the DEF tank. The dosage unit attaches to the exhaust behind the engine. It squirts DEF into the exhaust. It is rather vulnerable on the Grand Cherokee.
