I have this Class III receiver picked out, does anyone know if it will fit on a Diesel model? I’ve heard some talk saying some receivers don’t work because of the exhaust components that are on the diesel that are not on the gas engine models. I need advice please thanks

I went to their website It states "excluding eco diesel" under the title of the hitch.

I find it interesting that all of them look to hook up exactly like OEM one does.

This tells me a few things:

1) weight rating for out Wranglers is limited NOT because of the hitch. There are other things to consider like cooling (which is what I believe is to be the limiting factor).

2) overseas has higher weight ratings than we do. Why do you think that is? I believe it's because of their speed limits. They can tow more because they don't go as fast and they don't have the hill/accent and cooling issues like we do here.

I've towed way more than 3500 lbs JUST FINE. If #1 was the concern (cooling), I Wasn't worried as it was VERY cold on my tow route to Alaska in December and I really paid attention to the gauges. 2) I didn't exceed 65mph. 3) I added trailer brakes to the trailer and had a brake controller in the Jeep and 4) I added air bags to the rear springs to help with the added tongue weight. My story on all this

My 2c worth, don't worry about weight ratings and just be careful. Take into account what your are towing, and how you are towing.

The JLURD is actually a VERY competent tow vehicle...Just did three weeks on the road/2500 miles and pretty much got 16 mpg pulling the GeoPro. It will go as fast as you want but I keep it between 60 and 65 mph.

I had heating issues early on after taking ownership of the Jeep, but...if you can believe it...after reseating all the fuses, it has never got hot...Go figure...

Just remember that changing a hitch (or anything else) will NOT increase your tow rating...if you need more capability you need a different TV...

The tow rating is more based on the Wrangler suspension than the engine. My Cherokee Trailhawk with a 3.0 L 6 is rated at 4500.

Also, are you looking to replace the factory hitch or add a hitch? Someone in another thread told me that the Class 2 hitch that comes with a tow package is actually a class 3 three hitch but rated lower because the Wrangler is only rated to 3500 lb.
