Is there a method to the madness for rotating in a counter-clockwise fashion; personal preference? My engrained sense of rotational theory only allows me to rotate clockwise lol
- (Most importantly IMO) A 4 tire rotation requires a lift or jack stands as 2 tires need to be removed at the same time. A 5 tire rotation can be done by only jacking one wheel at a time.
- Start by removing the spare.
- Start changing tires one at a time. Go up the passenger side then driver.
- Spare to Passenger Rear
- Passenger Rear to Passenger Front
- Passenger Front to Driver Rear
- Driver Rear to Driver Front
- The Driver Front tire becomes the spare.
IT Engineer and my brother owns a well known Corvette shop (which I will not name drop) so I've been exposed to the automotive engineering thought process.Are you an OCD engineer like me? Love this!
I had no idea there was an OCD degree in engineering!Are you an OCD engineer like me?
I do counter-clockwise simply because when you open the tailgate, the spare is closest to passenger rear. Start there & go up that side! It's just really easy for me to remember that way.Is there a method to the madness for rotating in a counter-clockwise fashion; personal preference? Well, yeah. But directional tires aren't commonly used on Jeeps and you need a tire shop to flip the tire around if you switch sides. So you're probably having them do the tire rotation as well.Unless they're directional tires, you want to cross sides for more even wear
- Spare -> Passenger rear
- Passenger rear -> Driver front
- Driver front -> Driver rear
- Driver rear -> Passenger front
- Passenger front -> Spare
