Went to put on my steersmarts track bar and noticed this piece of the passenger side of the engine with some sort of dried fluid on it. It looks like it never made it down to the oil pan and definitely hasn’t dripped to the ground. No obvious source above this. Any ideas?

Looks like oil might be seeping/venting from a nearby gasket

I had that thought but the spread is odd...relatively broad coverage with nothing dripping below that spot.

Possible, especially as it was a “free” dealer change, though still perplexing as to why anything coming from above would spread so wide at this spot and abruptly stop with none making it further down the engine.

ETA: The oil fill cap is also on the other side of the engine, so careless dealer tech would be even more of a stretch.
