I'll take your 4.10 as mine is going to have the tall 3.45 (Willys). Wish they had an option on the Willys to upgrade. I hear 6th gear is absolutely unusable unless you're going 100mph. That's always fun in a short wheelbase, tall vehicle with mud tires on. ?
HAHA fair enough. I drove a 2dr willys before ordering, but I can't tell you how 6th was, only took it to highway speeds, but didn't really cruise long enough to truly evaluate 6th. It should be fine as long as you aren't pulling hills.

With the 3.45 gearing in my Willys Sport, and given that I never drive over 65 mph, I do not EVER expect to see 6th gear in this Jeep.

They do, or they did (XR 4.55) but it's expensive?

Oh snap. I do miss my manual but at my age it was too much as my DD.
Ya I understand that, my mother had to give up her manual at around 65 due to hip problems. And also climbing down into a sports car got to be a bit much too.

I'm only 46 but my patience isn't what it was when I was younger. I had a manual for 10 years in my 20's with 2 vehicles, had one this past year and while it was fun, there were days where it wasn't, especially early morning or after the gym.

I love driving sticks and have been for 35+years. Here's hoping that clutch is beefier than the first generation of the four part #'s. My wife does drive it on occasion after all! ?. Seriously though, she's good with a clutch and loves manuals too, but not necessarily as an every day driver. Great secondary vehicle.

3.6 without eTorque 8AT is the way. Best combination of simplicity and proven reliability.

DI, Turbos, small displacement are all net negatives to the consumer for government compliance. Increase cost, increased complexity, reduced reliability, additional service.

These will be the sought after like the later JKs were. 2.0T will be throw aways.
Quoting myself just to drive it home. High pressure fuel systems are a net negative for the consumer. Port EFI is the sweet spot for low cost, reasonable performance and fuel economy, high reliability, and low cost to service.

Actually the 3.6 basic set up with manual trans should be the simplest and solid. If it wasn't for the stupid clutch situation in earlier builds, it would be a no brainer. Amazes me how basic tech that has been around and largely perfected since Teddy Roosevelt roamed the earth still eludes modern manufacturers. Still want a manual. If necessary, throw in a beefy CF clutch, and this thing should go forever. Automatics don't and will require rebuild/replacement sometime.

But I hear you. Basic is better. Crank windows please. It's really not that hard, folks. ?

Yep it's a shame the JL clutch is a dumpster fire. I loved my manual TJ.

Hopefully WAS a dumpster fire. I've got a new build coming with the 4th revision single mass version clutch (vs the dual mass that was part of all the issues). Here's hoping the recalls and fires on the early builds put the fear of God into Stellantis and they have it sorted once again.

Couldn't agree more though on the port injection vs. direct injection crap. Port is the only way to go. Wash those valves, baby!
