Well I am in California and just got my reminder that my keeps birthday is coming up, aka registration renewal.

Here in California, we have crazy high registration fees, high gas prices due to state tax, and the worst roads in the country.

Our roads are horrendous but at least it's a cheap place to register your vehicle and get a speeding ticket
Haven't renewed it yet but our new vehicle tax is 3% and registration should be about $75.

Clark County NV. Excise tax is expensive here, even more expensive than Taxachussetts, where I moved from. Total fees on the ~$52k sales price of my Jeep was just north or $1k (2019 Jeep registered in 2018). According to their online calculator, it should cost ~$950 this year. Sales tax is high too at 8.25%, as is the gas tax. But that’s offset by no state income tax and cheap property tax (my town is especially cheap). The excise tax on my Jeep cost more than the property tax on my house. Make sense of that!

My property taxes are about $9,000.

Our sales tax is 8.25% which applies to all vehicles. If I buy a new vehicle I pay the sales tax. If I sell it privately or if a dealer resells it, the new buyer still pays 8.25% tax.

In Massachusetts my registration is $100 for two yrs-special fish & wildlife plate. Otherwise, $60 for 2 yrs. sales tax 6.25% of net sales price (new-trade value) only pd at time you register new vehicle. Excise tax $1,200

Here in GA it’s only $20!

But.....they hit you with ad valorem tax (~7%) when you buy the vehicle (new AND used), also if you move in from out of state you get to pay full fees the first time you register!

Texas. Around $70 a year.

Amen to that. I paid $160 for a two year registration when I bought my JLUR in Texas last year. I moved here from Virginia which charged the stupid yearly property tax on a vehicle on top of registration. One of the many reasons I love Texas now....saving thousands of dollars on annoying vehicle fees.
