Where would you start? Year/model/trim/mileage/cost>...used 2D Jeep Wrangler

1. 2nd vehicle: primary use-ranch land/grocery store runs/open air outings etc...no long trips
2. look and drive like a jeep (wrangler)
3. reliability (engine) and good paint
4. hard or soft top (primarily open air driving, except winter time)
5. after market options for a little pizzaz if recommending a stripped down bare bones wrangler.
what would make it fun
First step would be to figure out what kind of budget you're working with, then buy the newest/lowest mile example you can once you drive the different generations. A good set of A/T tires will get you through a lot of stuff, even on a base-model Sport.

Early JK's have the underwhelming 3.8 V6. YJ's and TJ's would have either the 2.5 4-cylinder or 4.0 I6. The later JK's and JL powerplants have a solid reputation.

The YJ or TJ would not be good for serious grocery-getting unless you remove the back seat. I can get a few bags in the back of my JL, and more with the seat folded up.

I have a soft-top on mine year round, and our winters are probably worse than yours (I'm in NJ). It's a non-issue IMO, I've daily driven it through 4 winters so far with the soft top.

Wrangler prices are falling, the Rubicon I bought earlier this month was originally listed for over 40k. My OTD price was less than 40k. The high prices of used Wranglers is why I ordered a 24 Willys but once prices started to drop it made more sense to buy a lightly used Rubicon for the same money. 2021 and only had 12,400 miles on when I picked it up.
