I have not seen any photos of the auto show JLs with their hoods open. Where is the ESS battery located? In the engine compartment or within the cabin?

I think it runs off the main battery on the 3.6.

It's that big thing in the upper right of the engine compartment. Has a black cable and a red cable going to it...

Yep, looks like no extra battery for ESS. It does mention the 2L w/ etorque coming with a separate battery.

Are we sure there's no secondary battery? I had my battery disconnected overnight to see if I could fix my gear selector light issues (it stays on all night w/o keys or running) and it still held power only dropping 0.7v.

Build sheet mentions main battery and then “Aux battery” on a separate line...

I’m confused. My build sheet says “Auxiliary Battery”. I’d sure like to confirm if my Sahara has one or two batteries.

It probably does. It's probably underneath the starter battery tray.

And post #5. Both think only one battery. I hope they are right.

The small auxiliary battery in the 3.6L without eTorque is not the same thing as the 48V BSG battery in the eTorque system.
