Cool beans! I didn't expect this to turn into some interesting winter pics! I guess I'll share a few I've taken this week, after our first snowfall of the season.

I rarely leave the house unless it's to go to the store, take care of family emergencies, or just to get out for a spin around the Driftless Area. We live on the Military Ridge. To the north is a labyrinth of confused, short valleys making their way to the Wisconsin River while the south slopes of the main ridge are meandering, long valleys.

I gravitate to the natural and restored remnants of prairie, oak savannah and pine forests. I love to just rambling around, looking for places to hike and things to photograph.

American Bison

Gordon Creek. My local area is full of trout streams. I used to fly fish and may begin again.

I love my new Duratracs. I know folks go for bigger than 33" when they buy new rubber, but I don't want to regear just yet and I'm happy with them.

A restored oak savannah. I find these very isolated places to hike and snow shoe. The Pandemic has really been isolating for a lot of folks, but for me it's just another day. I post online and interact via social media but in real life I'm usually by myself outside somewhere when not home.

We got about 10" of a heavyish wet snow.

The first order of business was to process it

...and then take the JLU out for a snowy drive on a pleasantly brisk morning.

Both girls were treated to a hand wash after I returned, in recognizance of superlative service to date.

As for those who can't hack the cold, move to Boca. Some of us are made of sterner stuff.

I'm lazy and just put on new tires. My wife's Prius rarely leaves the garage. I still clear her side just in case she has to go anywhere.

We get too much snow here to let it go. I clear both sides.

Yinz are all making me jealous. All I have is this big shovel. We do have an electric snow blower but dealing with the cord is a pain. I actually don't mind using the shovel. It keeps me out of trouble...

I forgot to share my pic from the other day. I just cleared a path to walk around the Jeeps and that's it. It's melting already since the driveway faces South. The clean patch behind my JL is where my son's KJ is usually parked.

We get too much snow here (265" a few winters ago) for an old guy like me to survive with a shovel. But I've found that with an enclosed, heated cab (and some helpers) it's a job I look forward to. (The Kubota is a big upgrade over my old Gator, though.)
