The JL went to a 14mm stud which handles the greater torque. And the lug nuts are huge. So large they only work on factory wheels.
I think there are aftermarket wheels that work with oem lug nuts....Mine do...that said I hate the tine covered factory lug nuts...I need to get some cast nuts..

I have been rotating my own tires since the 70's and I always use a torq wrench...I rotate every 2500-3000 miles and actually swap between two sets of tires so get changed even more often but always use a torq wrench...doesn't really add any more time to the process and makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I used a torq wench on the 3.6 oil filter cap but not on the drain plug....I have a dainty little in/lb torq wrench that is probably one of the most expensive and prized tools i have lol....I can fudge a bit on high torq bolts because i have a good feel for it but on low inch/lb stuff I like to use a torq wrench.

for the record a Ram Power Wagon uses the same lug size and that calls for 140 ft/lbs
Thank you my OCD brother from another mother

It's a joke,^ I use a torque wrench set to 130. I use the Milwaukee 1/2 impact gun on setting number 2 that equals a 100 foot pounds, until it rattles slightly, the I usually get about a 1/4 turn will the torque wrench.

You should get a dewalt setting 1 is about 100 :like:

The hot rod 3cyl version of course. We had the 2dt and 4dr models over the years.
Was having a friend back in the day with the 2 doors 3 cyls sprint, let just say that thing got beat so much but never really died. If I recall properly the clutch chattered twice. The good old day of beating your beater, fixing it in the driveway for more beating lol.

When I started dating my wife, she was 19 and had a Chevy Sprint. I did the first oil change on it. It had 28,000 miles. They were bullet proof cars. I bought the 4dr Metro when I had a 100+ mile commute to work. It got 51 mpg running 78 mph with the air on.

What a blast from the past! My 1 st car was a 1986 Chevy Sprint that my Dad used as a road car because of the mileage. Had to add aftermarket AC but still got 65mpgs on 8 gallon tank - almost 500 miles on a tank! And that 3 cylinder Suzuki engine with 12 inch wheels somehow had plenty of pep.

My 2nd car was a 1992 Mustang GT convertible - for obvious reasons after driving the Sprint!

Most trucks these days call for 130-160. JL isn't much lighter than and F150 and about the same as a Colorado
This. My colorado zr2 calls for 130 as well. I use a 14v cordless impact and 140lb torque stop stick knowing a cordless derates a stop stick. Have a 90 or 115 whichever it is for wife's compass. Over 200,000 miles between the three and never a loose lug nut.

Why not get a 20V Cordless 1/2" Drive Hi-Torque Impact like a Dewalt with impact socket(s) to take the nuts off and to run them up to snug, and then use a long arm torque wrench and do it right.

If the factory specs 130 pounds there is a legitimate reason why they are 130 pounds. If you don't follow the factory spec and if you should have an event where the tire/wheel comes loose and kills someone, do I need to say what predicament you will be in?

If you don't want to do it right, step away from the nuts and stay off the highway. You forum experts are not smarter than the engineers. If you were as smart or smarter than the engineers, then you wouldn't be using 95 pounds of torque.

Unfortunately the owner manual is not gospel only what the maker recommends. We see this for oil, fuel, filter and so on. I recommend you have look around what torque is recommended for 14mm x 1.5, spoiler alerts not 130 fb/lbs.

JK 95 FT. LBS. JL 130 FT. LBS. These are what the factory recommends. The JL, HAS LARGER DIAMETER STUDS.

Exactly: recommends.

Alternatively, if you look at generic lug torque spec for 14mmX1.5 the recommendation is 85-90 ft/lbs.

So ya, me keeping my 110 does not make me a criminal or some one who should not wrench, just make me some one who have a broader view than the owner manual. So much that I have followed dana recommendation for diff oil and put 75w140 in my diff against the owner manual recommending 75w85.
