AEV wheels have 5.72 backspacing and they claim that they work with a 37x12.50r17. Based on that your wheels and 37s should work.I’m running 315/70’s on a 5.2” backspaced wheel. Thinking of going 37’s, will my wheels work, or do I need new wheels? If so, what are you guys running with 37’s, 4.5” of backspacing? I’m still more in tune with the JK for wheel/tires setups.
I ran my 37's on stock wheels with 1.75" spacers. Then when I moved up to 38s I went with 3.5" BS on new wheels. All my friends are running 4.5" BS and 37s and don't have any issues.I’m running 315/70’s on a 5.2” backspaced wheel. Thinking of going 37’s, will my wheels work, or do I need new wheels? I was going to go with 4.5" BS when I ordered my wheels and all my friends who have 38s said they had rubbing with the 4.5 and switched to 3.5. Luckily I was able to change my order to 3.5". I'm only passing along what I was told by friends, I've only ever run the 3.5 with the 38s.I ran my 37's on stock wheels with 1.75" spacers. LOL yeah pretty sure he could have called anyone he wanted but took the time to make a post. Maybe you just don't have many friends in the Jeep community or they just don't like talking to you. People here were just trying to give insight.I just spoke to Paul at AEV (248)-926-0256 about the JL Pintle wheel and 37" tires. He said with their 2.5" lift there is only a seldom light rub area in the back wheel well. Where the plastic liner bumps out to cover the evaporations canister. Call him and get it from the horses mouth if you are still concerned. I am now not. Internet he said, friend said is mostly BS.
I did run 37s on stock wheels with no spacers and they were fine around town. Off road they did rub. You'll need 4.5 or less BS to prevent rubbing on control arms at full stuff. My main concern is rubbing a front control arm or sway bar when fully stuffed at full steering lock.
Thanks for all the reply’s.
You're welcome. What tire are you going with? Thanks Rusty, that’s the info I was looking for.
I’m not sure if I’m going to 37’s yet. Just getting my ducks in a row, just in case. I’m going to wheel it with my new shocks, and see if if it’s acceptable. If not, spring lift and 37’s.You're welcome. What tire are you going with?
When are you going to wheel it? I’m still interested in your thoughts with the new shocks. I contacted a shop about the teraflex 1.5” spacer lift and he said that jl Rubicon suspensions don’t fair well with spacer lifts. I’m not sure if he is just trying to upsell or not. Of course a spring lift will be better but also more expensive.I’m not sure if I’m going to 37’s yet. Just getting my ducks in a row, just in case. If I do, looking at KM3’s, or the new Mickey Thompson Baja Boss.
Not sure what that shop is talking about. I prefer a good spring lift, but 1.5” is perfect for 35’s on a 2 door, and no one makes a spring lift that short. Might not get it off road again till the end of next month. Busy working on the wife’s Gladiator. When are you going to wheel it? I’m still interested in your thoughts with the new shocks. Nope. Wheel diameter doesn’t matter for bs purposes. The width would make a difference. 12 wide would be significantly different with a 0 offset than a 9 wide.Does any of this matter if the wheel is a 20 in? I plan to run 37x12.50r20 on a 0 offset 9 inch rim. That should give me a 4.5 inch backspace.
