So, what do you carry in your vehicle at all times to deal with the spectrum of unexpectedness on a daily basis?

Most of the my kit got transferred from my Saabaru, but some items are new, since I now can actually pull people out.

Old kit:
- Jumper cables
- Cheapo socket kit
- 10mm wrench (may have to revise the size, now that i'm off the metric)
- One of those 256-in-1 screwdrivers that is sufficiently sturdy
- Pliers
- Benchmade Triage with a glass breaker tip (ok, yes, this is a ridiculously expensive knife throw into a vehicle, but i have affinity for knives, and all the knives I collect are working knives)
- Leather work gloves
- Assorted zip-ties
- Roll of duct tape
- Electric insulation tape
- Two flashlights - one small magnetic one and one Maglite 3D

Jeep-inspired additions:
- tow strap (will probably replace with a kinetic strap at some point)
- bow shackle

Planning to add:
- Medi-kit after I take some classes this year
- small car fire extinguisher
- paracord
- emergency marker lights (have been postponing it for some time - not even sure why)

For trips, things get added, obviously. I've yet to go offroading, I'd imagine things will be added, once I do.

In all seriousness this is a good list to start off with. It would be great if you could get all this to fit in the rear cubby

Actually, most of it does (at least the old kit) - my packrat mentality is complemented by dislike of having things all over the place (my wife usually highlights the former).

The only things outside of the rear tub are:
Maglite 3D - under the seat, but will figure out a way to have a mount for it - maybe a molle holster
Triage - currently in the center console

On future items:
I'm thinking about placing the extinguisher on roll bar
I'll have to re-think the tow strap once I get the kinetic one - they seem to be more bulky - maybe a bag attached to rear gate
Medi-kit - rip-away pouch on molle behind the seat.

PS: thank you for reminding me - I gotta move AAA card from my old car to this one.

I would add:

Water (LifeStraw)
Energy bars (Carry with you or replace often)
Wet wipes
Shovel (small/foldable)
Oil/duct tap/bailing wire/pliers
Emergency blanket (seasonal)
Extra jacket and snow boots (seasonal)
Parka for rain (garbage bags are great alternative that can be used for multiple other things - seasonal)

Depending on the adventure, I'll swap in and out much of what you already listed.

Following this. I've always been interested in EDC and bugout kits and frequent http://everydaycarry.com/ for inspiration. I would be interested to see how people are storing things, if anyone is creating some sort of storage system for the rear storage, maybe like pelican case type of foam that you can pluck out. Anyone do something similar?
