Ran Valvoline Advanced 0w20 for a while. Switched recently to Amsoil signature series 0w20 and change every 4500. I only use the Mopar filter.

My dad's a distributor for Amsoil so with his price it's not too far off from the Valvoline.

Redline 0w20 however, most failures are mechanical issues (poor deign, parts etc) not lubrication failures so put anything you want in there.

If some Mexican made/assembled your part on a Friday you're doomed anyway.

Quaker state synthetic for the JLURD and mopar filter every 3000 miles/6 months. Mobil 1 synthetic 10w40 for the LJ once a year roughly 2000 miles.

FRAM XG11665 and Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic 0W-20. When the Jeep was new I was more concerned with using an oil that met the Chrysler spec and why I chose Pennzoil. In other vehicles I ran Mobile 1. Truthfully, I don't think it matters and any good quality synthetic will serve you well.

I can usually find both filter and oil on sale at Walmart. I loosely follow the oil life monitor and change the oil in spring and fall. I could probably go longer on the oil, but this schedule lets me change the oil around the 5k mark.

Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20 with a Wix filter in both Jeeps. Been using them for years. See no reason to change unless someone comes up with something lol.

Valvoline full synth. every 5 k and usually Purolator filter
220,670 miles on 2013 JK
80,000 miles on 2018 JLU
5,450 miles on 2023 JL
No sludge, no valve issues, comes out clean and no oil use / burning. Very clean 2013 under oil cooler and valve covers. (had to do oil cooler and valve cover gaskets.)
All 3.6 and 2023 is 3.6 eboost. They all get wheeled and driven for short and long distances. And off road of course.

The original Ultra was no question the best filter for the money, but they recently changed the media and country of manufacture and it appears they cheapened the quality in the process.

I have been using Ultras since 2012 in all my vehicles, but will be looking to a different brand when I run out of the Korean made ones.

I disassembled one of the new Brazilian filters and the media tears very easily and it is synthetic only because there is a coating that is sprayed on it.

Just an FYI
I appreciate the info. I did read about that last year but it seemed the general opinion was they were still fairly good quality. But might be worth just getting a mopar filter going forward I guess.

I’d like to give a shout out for Valvoline. I used to work for a large construction company that was owned by the same owners of Valvoline. The construction company had a fleet of pickups and only used Valvoline oil. What I saw and learned from the mechanics caused me to switch to Valvoline in my personal vehicles. Mechanics are some of the most cynical people on the planet and they approved of Valvoline. That made an impression on me.

I run the LM 5W40 VW502 spec in my Audi and the engine does much better with it. I went LM for the Wrangler this last change and I am not seeing much difference for the 3.6 over what ever oil was in it before

I may give it a try after my 3 oil changes are used up and see if there are any noticeable changes

Been running Pennzoil Platinum for the last 5 changes, but I just changed the oil this morning and switched to Valvoline Advanced 0w20.
