21 JLUR: I went to install the MORE Evap protection plate and this is "in the way" I had a 18 JLUR and this was not there because I put the MORE plate over my Evap. Its directly under the EVAP between the Exhaust and rear drive shaft. Took 2 pics of it.

Can you describe what we're looking for in these pictures or point an arrow at it?

The black "box" in the middle of the pic on the left side. The right side pic is taken from the right of of the jeep. This is located about where the second row seats and cargo area starts but left of center of the vehicle.

I just know this was not on my 18 JLUR.

Maybe it's the second battery for the eTorque system?

About 10 seconds into the video. Shows it's the 48v battery pack.
This would point to you having the 2.0L turbo engine. Correct?

Think he is saying it is a 21, the eTorqe is on the 3.6 now, not the 2.0. I have the same box on my 2021 3.6 eTorque.

Thank you for this

We'll, just forget about little old me who gave you the answer before anyone else.
Just kidding. ? I'm glad you figured it out.
Also, the 2021 2.0 no longer has eTorque, so it has nothing in that area, but it does have a second small battery for the ESS that's located under the main fuse box next to the main battery in the engine compartment.

I thought I read somewhere that my second battery was under my 1st battery on my 2021 3.6 Rubi? I’m reading here that it’s mounted to my frame under the rear seat area?

ESS battery is under main battery in engine bay.
Belt Start Generator (BSG) larger battery pack mounted underneath between the frame rails.

Thanks.
So does that mean I have 3 batteries total? (2 under the hood and 1 frame mounted)

According to the video of we have auto transmission and 3.6 we don’t have the smaller battery under the main. Just the main and the 48v one under the Jeep. But need confirmation from smarter people. I read that if you have the 48v etorque you don’t have an alternator but my sticker says I got the upgraded alternator bc I have the tow group. So I’m confused.

Interesting. I haven't been keeping up completely. Thanks for that info.

Any jeep that doesn't have etorque has the second battery under the fuse box for ess. Any jeep with etorque doesn't as the 48v battery handles starting duty. It used to be simple as all 2.0t's had it. Now some 3.6's have it and some don't so it's a bit more confusing.
