What's this silver T shaped tab for?

In the front behind the wheels, there's this metal tab that hangs down that's in a "T" shape. To me, it looks like it serves no purpose other than getting hung up on mud and branches when on the trail. It looks out of place to me and just weird.

Does anybody know what this is for? Was it supposed to be removed by the dealer on delivery? Thanks!

It is an assembly aid to help with "design for assembly" . It helps the operator install the recessed nut.

It holds that bolt in place that it’s attached to.

Thanks for the responses! I would had thought it would be easy to get to the bolt, as there's a big hole on the other side, but I'll leave it there. I just thought it looked weird and would be prone to rust and getting debris stuck on it.

Without the use of flag nuts in strategic locations, we'd be bombarded with complaint threads about lost nuts forever rattling in the frame.
